Dolphins QB Jay Cutler has cleared the concussion protocol and will start Sunday's game against the Broncos, HC Adam Gase announced. Cutler was actually playing reasonably well before the injury, tossing multiple TDs in 4 straight games. Denver, meanwhile, has allowed a league-high 24 passing scores and will be without CB Aqib Talib. It's enough to make Cutler an option in 2-QB leagues.

Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (concussion) is out for Sunday's game against the Patriots. QB Matt Moore will draw the start after a nice showing in relief of Cutler last week. New England's defense has been much better over the past month and a half, but Moore should have enough volume on his side to make him a decent QB2 play.

Dolphins QB Jay Cutler stayed in the locker room at the start of the 2nd half of Sunday's game vs. the Bucs to get checked for a concussion. He completed just 6 of 12 passes with 3 INTs in the 1st half. QB Matt Moore is in the game for Miami. We'll update Cutler's status when we learn more.

Update: Cutler has been diagnosed with a concussion and is out for the game.

Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (ribs) is active for tonight’s game against the Raiders. He’s in the QB2 mix vs. the league’s 21st-ranked QB defense.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Dolphins QB Jay Cutler is expected to play tonight against the Raiders. Cutler is questionable with a rib injury that cost him Week 8. HC Adam Gase has said that Cutler will get his starting job back when he's ready. The Raiders present an upside matchup, and getting WR DeVante Parker back will help. Cutler's play to date, however, also means lots of downside risk.

Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (ribs) put in a full week of practice. He’s listed as questionable but is fully expected to start against the Raiders on Sunday night. Despite that plus matchup, he remains just a QB2.

Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (ribs) is expected to be available for Week 9, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. HC Adam Gase has remained committed to Cutler as his starter so far, but that could change if QB Matt Moore plays well against the Ravens tonight. Neither guy is more than a QB2, of course.

The Dolphins believe QB Jay Cutler suffered a cracked rib in Sunday's game against the Jets, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Cutler is undergoing more tests to confirm. Rapoport adds that he'll "likely" miss Thursday night's game against the Ravens but has a chance to be back for Week 9. ESPN’s Adam Schefter hears that Cutler could miss 2-3 weeks. QB Matt Moore will start for however long Cutler is out. He completed 13 of 21 passes for 188 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT while leading Miami to a comeback win vs. the Jets. Moore is a capable QB who can keep the offense on track.

Dolphins QB Jay Cutler injured his chest in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Jets. He's been replaced by QB Matt Moore. We'll update Cutler's status when we know more.

The NFL has moved the Bucs-Dolphins game originally scheduled for this Sunday to Week 11. Both teams were scheduled to have a bye that week but will now play 16 straight weeks from Week 2 to 17. We just removed all Bucs and Dolphins from the Week 1 Rankings. The winner here is RB Doug Martin, whose 3-game suspension will now cost him a game against the tough Giants run defense rather than the Dolphins.

Sunday's opener between the Bucs and Dolphins is in limbo as Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida. The league held a conference call this morning to discuss the situation, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, but no decision was made. The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud hears that the Bucs are expecting the game to be moved to Week 11, when both teams currently have a bye week. The other option is to move the game elsewhere. We're expecting to have clarity on the situation within the next 24 hours.

QB Jay Cutler made his debut with the Dolphins Thursday night against the Ravens and appeared to be developing a connection with WR DeVante Parker. Cutler targeted Parker 4 times among 7 total pass attempts, including a 31-yard connection negated by holding. The duo connected on just 1 of their other 3 looks, a 16-yard completion. Cutler also targeted RB Jay Ajayi, WR Jarvis Landry and RB Damien Williams once apiece. After the game, Cutler called Parker a "faster Alshon [Jeffery]," referring to the WR he played with in Chicago -- and peppered with targets in their most recent work together. It's early, but we'll be watching this duo in the "dress rehearsal" Week 3 of the preseason. Parker's current mid-Round 7 ADP makes him a potential upside play in fantasy football drafts.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has decided to have surgery to repair his left ACL. He partially tore that ligament last December but passed on surgery in the offseason. Then he re-injured the knee in practice earlier this month. Miami, of course, planned for this outcome by signing QB Jay Cutler. The Dolphins will have a decision to make next offseason, with much smaller dead-cap figures on Tannehill's contract in 2018 and 2019 should they decide to cut him -- vs. cap hits of $19.8 million and up over the final 3 years.

The Dolphins have coaxed QB Jay Cutler out of retirement with a 1-year, $10 million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The move is a sure sign that the team has elected to have QB Ryan Tannehill undergo season-ending surgery on his ACL. Cutler's 2016 season ended with a torn labrum, and he finished with a 59.1% completion rate, 4 TDs and 5 INTs in 5 appearances. The year prior, though, he connected on 64.4% of his attempts with 21 TDs and 11 INTs. That season came under OC Adam Gase, who is now HC of the Dolphins. That experience in the offense will help Cutler get ready with Week 1 just 5 weeks away. Cutler will be piloting a run-heavy offense and is no more than a lower-end QB2 in fantasy. But he'll keep this offense on schedule. We're not moving any Miami skill-position players down the rankings.

11:00am EDT 5/5/17

QB Jay Cutler announced his retirement on Friday. The enigmatic 34-year-old sat on the free-agent market all offseason without generating much interest. There was a time when teams were willing to put up with his attitude in exchange for his big arm, but his skills have deteriorated over the past few years. Cutler has signed on with FOX to work the broadcast booth, although we're guessing he'd un-retire if a team came calling at some point during the season. For now, Cutler hangs up the cleats with 32,467 passing yards, 208 TDs and 146 INTs in 11 NFL seasons.
