The Titans promoted RB D'Onta Foreman to the active roster. He signed to the practice squad on Tuesday, so he must have had a good week of practice. Foreman joins Jeremy McNichols and Adrian Peterson in Tennessee's backfield for Sunday night's game vs. the Rams.

The Titans are signing RB Adrian Peterson, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Peterson will start on the practice squad but figures to be elevated quickly, likely before Sunday night's game vs. the Rams. Peterson is 36 now and managed just 3.9 yards per carry on 156 attempts for the Lions last year. He ranked 43rd in Pro Football Focus' rushing grades among 47 RBs with 100+ carries. That said, Peterson might be the favorite to lead the Titans in carries the rest of the way. His primary competition will come from RB Jeremy McNichols, who's listed at 205 lbs. and has yet to top 11 carries in an NFL game. We'll see exactly how the split shakes out. McNichols does figure to handle most of the passing-down work, though, which caps Peterson's fantasy ceiling.

Titans RB Derrick Henry suffered a "potentially" season-ending foot injury in yesterday's win over the Colts, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "Henry is undergoing an MRI today to determine the full extent of the damage," Schefter adds. We'll update Henry's status as soon as we know more, but this injury obviously has major fantasy implications. Tennessee only has RBs Jeremy McNichols and Dontrell Hilliard behind Henry on the depth chart right now. RB Mekhi Sargent is on the practice squad. None of those guys are fit to handle anywhere close to Henry's volume. The Titans could add a RB before Tuesday's trade deadline. But we'll likely see them shift significantly toward the pass for as long as Henry is sidelined. It's good news for QB Ryan Tannehill and WR A.J. Brown.

Titans RB Jeremy McNichols (ankle) is active for tonight's game against the Bills. He didn't practice on Friday or Saturday and was listed as questionable, so it's unclear if he's able to play his usual change-of-pace role behind RB Derrick Henry.

When healthy, Evans should take over the change-of-pace role from RB Jeremy McNichols. Evans still looks like just a fantasy handcuff but is worth a stash in deeper leagues.

Titans QB Ryan Tannehill has been activated from the COVID list. He should be good to go for next Sunday's opener vs. the Cardinals. RB Jeremy McNichols was also activated from the COVID list and will join Mekhi Sargent behind Derrick Henry on the depth chart.

Tennessee deemed him questionable to return, which could be a good signal on the injury's severity. We'll keep an eye out for updates, though. Jeremy McNichols stepped in after Evans left.

The Titans signed former Falcons RB Brian Hill to a 1-year deal. Hill, a 2017 5th-round pick, averaged 4.7 YPC last year on a career-high 100 attempts. He’ll battle Darrynton Evans and Jeremy McNichols for the #2 spot behind Derrick Henry. A Henry injury would almost certainly result in a timeshare, though.

The 49ers' fears have been realized. RB Jerick McKinnon suffered an ACL tear in Saturday's practice and will miss the season. That leaves his expected touches available for Matt Breida and Alfred Morris. The team this week released RBs Joe Williams and Jeremy McNichols. We'd bet on San Francisco adding to the backfield, but Breida and Morris carry much more value in fantasy football drafts over the coming week.

Niners RB Matt Breida is expected to miss the rest of the preseason because of the shoulder injury he suffered Thursday night, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. Breida did, however, avoid structural damage to the joint. The team hopes to have him back for Week 1. In the meantime, RBs Joe Williams, Raheem Mostert and Jeremy McNichols will enjoy extra opportunities to earn offensive roles. Breida's current ADP is late enough (around RB50) that you can still take him there, barring some negative development with his shoulder. Williams is the biggest talent behind him on the depth chart and still has plenty to prove after a lost rookie year.

The Bucs have released RB Jeremy McNichols. The 5th-round rookie was a major disappointment this preseason, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry and failing to catch a pass. He figures to get scooped up by another squad but is obviously off the redraft radar. We'd keep McNichols stashed in dynasty. The Bucs will open the season with Jacquizz Rodgers, Charles Sims and Peyton Barber at RB. Doug Martin is suspended for the first 3 games.

The Buccaneers selected Boise State RB Jeremy McNichols in the 5th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. At 5’9, 214 pounds, McNichols posted 1,337 yards in 2015 and 1,709 in 2016. He combined for 43 rushing scores over that span. Plenty elusive, McNichols also adds strong receiving skills (88 catches over the past 2 years). A Round 3/4 talent, the 21-year-old likely dropped due to post-Combine surgery on a torn labrum in his shoulder. Aiming to be 100% by July, McNichols will have a shot at early-season playing time — especially with Doug Martin suspended for the first 3 games.
