The Bears placed LB Jerrell Freeman on IR this week, and he'll miss the rest of the season. The veteran suffered a torn pectoral muscle that will require surgery. On top of that season-ender, Freeman also sustained a concussion. Nick Kwiatkoski looks like the 1st man up to replace Freeman. There will obviously be tackles available to Kwiatkoski and Danny Trevathan, who played 71% of the snaps in Chicago's Week 1 loss to Atlanta. But IDP owners shouldn't expect any Bear to approximate Freeman's consistent production. Freeman could be a candidate for release in the upcoming offseason, heading toward his age-32 season.

Bears LB Jerrell Freeman rejoined the team Monday after serving his 4-game PED suspension. He should work right back into the lineup next to LB Nick Kwiatkoski for Sunday's game against Washington. Freeman will be starter material in nearly all IDP leagues. He averaged 9.2 total tackles per game through his 1st 10 contests.

The Bears announced Monday that the league has suspended LB Jerrell Freeman 4 games for violating the PED policy. That takes a top-10 fantasy LB out of many IDP lineups and leaves LB Danny Trevathan as the defense's best bet for tackles. Trevathan's coming off 2 straight games of 9 solos and 11+ total stops. Freeman's safe to drop for another option, as he'll only return for weeks 16 and 17.

As expected, Bears LB Jerrell Freeman (wrist) is active for tonight's game against the Packers. He had been questionable but didn't miss any practice time. Use him as you normally would in your IDP lineup.

Bears LB Jerrell Freeman is questionable for Thursday night's game against the Packers with a wrist injury. Chicago listed him as limited every day this week, and Freeman didn't miss a single snap in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. We'd bet on him playing, though we'll check on his status Thursday night.

QB Jay Cutler wasn't the only Bear to hurt his thumb Monday night. The Chicago Tribune reports that LB Danny Trevathan will have thumb surgery Wednesday morning. There's no word on a timetable for his return. The Tribune story says only that the team will not put Trevathan on IR. That intimates he will miss some time, though. Trevathan's absence can only further boost Jerrell Freeman's already high tackle ceiling for IDP owners. We'll await further word on Trevathan's outlook.

The Bears have agreed to a 3-year deal with LB Jerrell Freeman. The former Colt delivered 145 and 126 tackles in his 1st 2 seasons after arriving from the CFL. Injuries cost him 7 total games over the past 2 years, but he still finished 15th in fantasy points per game among LBs (depending on your format) last season. He joins former Bronco Danny Trevathan in a dramatically improved ILB group. We'll see about their respective values as we get into 2016 IDP projections.

The Colts have ruled out ILB Jerrell Freeman for the 2nd straight game because of a hamstring injury. That again raises the tackle ceiling for D'Qwell Jackson, who's expected to play through a "questionable" tag (quad).

The Colts have ruled ILB Jerrell Freeman out for Sunday night's game against the Steelers because of a hamstring injury. That increases the upside for D'Qwell Jackson in an otherwise negative matchup for LB scoring.

Colts LB Jerrell Freeman (groin) is active for the Sunday night game against the Patriots. He missed Week 5's Thursday night win over Houston but looks OK to use if you waited on him in your IDP league.

Colts LB Jerrell Freeman is questionable for Sunday night's game against the Patriots because of a groin injury. He put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday, which suggests he's likely to play. But the primetime kickoff makes Freeman risky to wait for in your IDP lineup -- especially with at least some risk of aggravating the injury. Nate Irving started in Freeman's spot last week but split snaps with Sio Moore. That makes both fairly unusable in fantasy.

Colts LB Jerrell Freeman will miss Thursday night's game at Houston because of a groin injury. Freeman didn't even travel with the team Wednesday. We'll see if the extra rest allows him to return for a Week 6 clash with the Patriots. Nate Irving and Sio Moore sit behind the ILB starters on the "unofficial" team depth chart, but Josh McNary played 56 snaps in Week 4's win over Jacksonville after Freeman left in the 1st quarter. His absence boosts D'Qwell Jackson's tackle outlook.

The Colts have tendered restricted free-agent LB Jerrell Freeman at a 2nd-round level. That means they'll have the chance to match any offer he gets on the open market and would get a 2nd-round pick from any team that signs him to a contract. Don't bet on another team paying a 2nd-rounder for a LB heading into his age-29 season. Freeman got slowed by an early-season hamstring injury last year but got back to his usual level of production late. He should remain a strong IDP starter going forward.

Colts LB Jerrell Freeman is inactive for today's finale against the Titans. The move isn't really surprising, considering that the game means nothing for Indy's playoff seeding and Freeman has been playing through a knee issue for a while. All Colts will make for risky-to-bad fantasy starts in Week 17.

Colts LB Jerrell Freeman will miss his 2nd straight game in Week 3 because of a hamstring injury.  Josh McNary started in Freeman's place Monday night against the Eagles and collected 5 tackles.  He's no option for IDP owners.  The other ILB starter, D'Qwell Jackson, gains tackle upside with Freeman out.  He has moved up our Week 3 IDP rankings.
