The Dolphins on Wednesday released TE Julius Thomas. The veteran spent just 1 year in Miami, catching 41 balls for 388 yards and 3 TDs across 14 games. He now hits the open market heading into his age-30 season, with a fairly significant injury history. We're not expecting much from Thomas going forward.

The Dolphins have placed TE Julius Thomas on IR with a foot injury. He was reportedly hurt early in last week's loss to the Bills but played through it. Thomas has still never played a full 16-game season. His absence leaves Anthony Fasano and MarQueis Gray as Miami's top 2 TEs. Neither is a fantasy option. The 4.4 targets per game Thomas was averaging figure to be spread between the WRs and RB Kenyan Drake.

The NFL has moved the Bucs-Dolphins game originally scheduled for this Sunday to Week 11. Both teams were scheduled to have a bye that week but will now play 16 straight weeks from Week 2 to 17. We just removed all Bucs and Dolphins from the Week 1 Rankings. The winner here is RB Doug Martin, whose 3-game suspension will now cost him a game against the tough Giants run defense rather than the Dolphins.

Sunday's opener between the Bucs and Dolphins is in limbo as Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida. The league held a conference call this morning to discuss the situation, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, but no decision was made. The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud hears that the Bucs are expecting the game to be moved to Week 11, when both teams currently have a bye week. The other option is to move the game elsewhere. We're expecting to have clarity on the situation within the next 24 hours.

The Dolphins have coaxed QB Jay Cutler out of retirement with a 1-year, $10 million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The move is a sure sign that the team has elected to have QB Ryan Tannehill undergo season-ending surgery on his ACL. Cutler's 2016 season ended with a torn labrum, and he finished with a 59.1% completion rate, 4 TDs and 5 INTs in 5 appearances. The year prior, though, he connected on 64.4% of his attempts with 21 TDs and 11 INTs. That season came under OC Adam Gase, who is now HC of the Dolphins. That experience in the offense will help Cutler get ready with Week 1 just 5 weeks away. Cutler will be piloting a run-heavy offense and is no more than a lower-end QB2 in fantasy. But he'll keep this offense on schedule. We're not moving any Miami skill-position players down the rankings.

TE Jordan Cameron announced his retirement on Friday. "I started thinking about concussions too much," Cameron, 28, told ESPN. "You can't play football like that.” The former Brown and Dolphin has suffered several concussions in his career and appeared in just 3 games last year with Miami. The Fins will move forward with Julius Thomas and Anthony Fasano at TE.

The Jaguars have traded TE Julius Thomas to the Dolphins in exchange for a 2017 seventh-round pick. This went from Thomas-for-Albert to no trade to Thomas-for-a-pick in the past 12 hours. Thomas disappointed in Jacksonville, missing 11 games and averaging just 35 yards in the other 21 over the past 2 seasons. He, of course, dealt with inconsistent QB play from Blake Bortles. Whether he's getting an upgrade in QB Ryan Tannehill is debatable. Thomas is at least reuniting with Adam Gase, who was Denver's OC when Thomas scored 24 TDs between 2013 and 2014. Turning just 29 in June, there's some bounce-back potential. But fantasy owners shouldn't bet more than a late-round pick on it.

Multiple outlets are reporting that the Jaguars and Dolphins are working to finalize a Julius Thomas for Branden Albert swap. In Miami, Thomas would be reuniting with Adam Gase, who was the Broncos' OC when Thomas tallied 24 TDs across 2013 and 2014. Of course, QB Peyton Manning also had plenty to do with that. Thomas wouldn't enjoy that level of QB play with the Dolphins, and he'd be battling for targets with DeVante Parker and possibly Kenny Stills behind #1 WR Jarvis Landry. The trade would still leave Thomas as just a TE2 flier in 2017 fantasy drafts, but consider a move to Miami a slight upgrade to his fantasy stock. The deal is reportedly contingent on both Thomas and Albert restructuring their contracts and passing physicals. It can't be made official until the start of the new league year on March 9.

Update: Insider Armando Salguero reports that Jacksonville will be sending Miami a 2018 draft pick, not Thomas, in exchange for Albert. Thomas could still find himself on a new team this coming season. He's due to make $6 million in 2017 on his current deal.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (back) has been placed on IR. He'll end up missing the final 6 games of the season with an injury we still don't know much about. Thomas has never played a full 16-game season. He finishes 2016 with 30 catches for 281 yards and 4 TDs. His 9.4 yards per catch was a career low, which probably says more about Jacksonville's passing game than Thomas' skills at this point. He'll only be 29 when the 2017 season kicks off but won't be more than a TE2 in drafts.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (back) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Vikings. He has no timetable for return and isn’t worth hanging onto in redraft leagues. Neal Sterling and Ben Koyack shared TE duties with Thomas out last week. Neither guy can be trusted in fantasy lineups.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (back) is inactive for today’s game against the Broncos. Ben Koyack gets another game as Jacksonville's lead TE but shouldn't be in fantasy lineups.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (back) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Ben Koyack gets another game as Jacksonville's lead TE but shouldn't be in fantasy lineups.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills. TE Marcedes Lewis (calf) was placed on I.R. earlier this week, leaving Ben Koyack as Jacksonville's lead TE. The former 7th-rounder would be a desperation fantasy play.

The Jaguars have fired OC Greg Olson. The offense has been the biggest issue during Jacksonville's 2-5 start. The Jags sit 25th in yards per game and 24th in points per game. Olson will be replaced by former QBs coach Nathaniel Hackett. He spent 2013 and 2014 as the Bills' OC. Neither of those teams finished in the top half of the league in total yards or points. The change in coordinator is unlikely to spark the Jags' offense.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is active for tonight's game against the Titans. He was reportedly a game-time decision, so it's safe to assume that he'll be operating at far less than 100%. Thomas is a risky, low-end TE1 for Week 8.

ESPN's Adam Caplan suggests that Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (ankle) will be a game-time decision for tonight's tilt with the Titans. Thomas is officially listed as questionable, but he played 81% of the snaps last week and put in limited practices on Monday and Wednesday. We'll find out his official status by 7 pm ET tonight. He'll be a risky TE1 if active.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Raiders. He was added to the injury report on Thursday but got in a limited practice on Friday. Thomas is a lower-end TE1 with upside vs. Oakland’s 26th-ranked TE defense.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Raiders. He was added to the injury report on Thursday but got in a limited practice on Friday. We’ve seen nothing to suggest he’s in danger of missing Sunday’s game. Thomas will be a lower-end TE1 with upside vs. Oakland’s 26th-ranked TE defense.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (elbow) put in a full week of practice and is not listed on the team’s final injury report. He’s a solid TE1 against a Bears defense that’s sitting 19th in fantasy points to TEs after allowing a 6-50-1 line to Dwayne Allen last week.

Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (elbow) participated in the team's post-bye-week practice on Monday. He's on track to return for this weekend's game against the Bears. Thomas was sitting 8th among TEs in both PPR and non-PPR points through the season's first 3 weeks.
