The Ravens added RB Kenneth Dixon in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Dixon was a do-it-all back for Louisiana Tech, racking up 5,452 total yards and 87 TDs over 4 seasons. He reached 1,000 rushing yards in 3 of those years while averaging a strong 5.6 yards per carry. Dixon is at his best in the passing game, though, where he tallied 63 catches, 849 yards (13.5 YPC) and 13 TDs over the past 2 seasons. He even spent some time in the slot at Louisiana Tech. It’s fair to question Dixon’s level of competition in the Conference USA, but he eased those concerns by testing as an above-average athlete for an NFL RB. The 5’10, 215-pounder ran a mediocre 4.58-second 40-yard dash but posted strong marks in the jumping and agility drills. It earned him a SPARQ score in the 64th percentile. Dixon joins a crowded but unsettled backfield in Baltimore alongside 30-year-old RB Justin Forsett and 2nd-year RB Buck Allen. Note that Ravens OC Marc Trestman loves getting his backs involved in the passing game.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh is not committing to Justin Forsett as his starting RB in 2016.  "We’re going to put the guy out there that is gaining the most yards," Harbaugh said at the Combine when asked if Forsett is still his starter.  The 30-year-old averaged just 4.2 yards per carry and 4.9 yards per catch last year before breaking his arm in Week 11.  He'll compete with Buck Allen and potentially a rookie or free-agent addition for snaps and touches this summer.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett expects to be ready for offseason workouts after breaking his arm on November 22.  “Everything is going well,” he said of his rehab. “I should be 100% in a couple of weeks.”  Forsett was sitting 15th among RBs in fantasy points when he went down in Week 11, but he averaged just 4.2 yards per carry and 4.9 yards per catch.  He should be back in Baltimore in 2016 at his reasonable $3.7 million cap hit, but Forsett figures to battle RB Buck Allen for snaps and touches.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett broke his arm in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game against the Rams.  That'll knock him out for the rest of the season.  Rookie Buck Allen will step in as Baltimore's lead back and will be worth adding in all fantasy leagues this week.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle) is active for today’s game against the 49ers. He only got in a limited practice on Friday and won’t be at 100%. San Francisco ranks 28th in fantasy points allowed to RBs, though.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle) is "optimistic" about his chances of playing against the 49ers today.  He returned to a limited practice on Friday and is listed as questionable.  With the game kicking off at 4:25 pm ET, Forsett owners should still have a backup plan in place.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle) is listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision for Sunday’s tilt with the 49ers. He returned to a limited practice on Friday. "It's a work in progress,” he said afterward. “We’re heading in the right direction." Fantasy owners are in a tough spot with Ravens-49ers not kicking off until 4:25 pm ET. If you’re hoping to start Forsett, you need a late-game backup option. Rookie Buck Allen, who will serve as Baltimore’s lead back if Forsett sits, would work.

ESPN.com Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley says he wouldn't be surprised if RB Justin Forsett practices Friday and then plays against the Niners on Sunday. He says that Forsett hasn't been favoring his sprained right ankle this week and points out that Baltimore hasn't signed another experienced back despite Forsett's injury and Lorenzo Taliaferro hitting IR this week. We'll see what the Friday practice report says. If you own Forsett, though, you should certainly have an insurance option at the ready.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle) missed another practice on Thursday. If he’s not able to suit up vs. San Francisco, rookie Buck Allen would draw the start and likely handle 15+ touches. Fantasy owners of Forsett should begin prepping a backup plan.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.  Don't expect him to get much, if any, work this week.  But HC John Harbaugh said Monday that Forsett has a chance to play against the 49ers on Sunday.  RB Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) was also sidelined on Wednesday.  If both guys miss this weekend's game, rookie Buck Allen would serve as Baltimore's lead back.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh said Monday that RB Justin Forsett avoided a high-ankle sprain.  "It gives him a good chance of playing this week," Harbaugh added.  Forsett probably won't practice much this week, but we'll look for clues as to his availability.  If he's able to play, he'll get a plus matchup against the 49ers.  Forsett has ripped off back-to-back 100-yard games after a slow start to the season.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett injured his ankle at the end of a long run late in the 4th quarter. He spent the rest of the game on the sidelines with the ankle heavily taped. We’ll look for an update on his status tomorrow.

Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) is active for today’s game against the Bengals. He’ll serve as the #2 RB behind Justin Forsett and likely vulture goal-line carries.

Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) is questionable for this weekend’s game against the Bengals. He returned to practice on Friday after sitting out the previous 2 days but still looks like a game-time decision. Taliaferro isn’t a fantasy option, but his absence could mean a few extra touches for RB Justin Forsett.

Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's opener against the Broncos.  Insider Jamison Hensley believes that he has a shot to return for Week 2.  Buck Allen figures to serve as Baltimore's #2 RB this weekend, but RB Justin Forsett will dominate touches.

New Ravens OC Marc Trestman told ESPN.com that it's an "overblown perception" that he's necessarily pass-heavy with his offensive approach. He says he has schemed to his teams' strengths, and Baltimore's starts on the ground. “Ravens football starts with the running game, and that doesn’t mean you’re not going to throw the ball,” Trestman said, via ESPN.com. “But the emphasis here is we want to be a great running football team and we have the players to do that." Trestman's Bears ranked 24th and 30th in the league in rushing attempts the past 2 years, but that team had a pair of #1-type WRs, a strong receiving TE and perhaps the league's best receiving RB. We're already on board with RB Justin Forsett in 2015 fantasy football drafts. If Trestman does lean run more, it could help reserves Lorenzo Taliaferro and Buck Allen find more regular touches. Cowboys OC Scott Linehan -- for what it's worth -- gave an example last year of a traditionally pass-heavy coach who can lean way in the other direction if the situation merits. For now, we're not altering our projections for the Ravens offense at all, though.

Ravens insider Aaron Wilson confirmed that OC Marc Trestman is keeping the zone-blocking scheme in place that former OC Gary Kubiak ran.  It's excellent news for RB Justin Forsett, who thrived in the system last year, ripping off a personal-best 1,266 yards on 5.4 yards per carry.  We're not projecting Forsett to reach either mark in 2015, but he'll remain a big-time contributor on the ground.  And his receiving numbers should grow under Trestman, who has a long history of getting RBs involved in the passing game.

Ravens RB Justin Forsett is ready for an increased role in the passing game under new OC Marc Trestman.  "I'm excited about that -- being used more, going out wide or catching passes out of the backfield," Forsett said. "With Coach Trestman coming in, a lot of backs have had a lot of passes. Even in OTAs, I've been catching a lot of balls, so I make sure I am sharp on my routes and ready to be used that way as well."  Trestman has had a RB catch at least 48 balls in all 10 of his seasons as a play-caller. On average, his top RB has tallied 65.4 grabs.  That's a number Forsett could reach in 2015.  ESPN's Jamison Hensley believes that Forsett could even double last year's 44 receptions.  That's lofty, but Forsett is certainly in the mix to lead all RBs in catches this season.
