The Dolphins have deemed MLB Kiko Alonso (thumb, hamstring) doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Alonso had surgery Monday to repair a broken thumb and has also been dealing with a hamstring injury. He missed practice all week.
Dolphins MLB Kiko Alonso had surgery Monday to repair a broken right thumb, The Associated Press reports. Alonso hurt it Sunday but returned to finish the game with a cast on it. HC Adam Gase said that Alonso might play next Sunday against the Cardinals. The MLB has also been dealing with a hamstring issue. The combo of ailments adds risk to Alonso's IDP profile for Week 14.
Dolphins MLB Kiko Alonso (hamstring) is active for today's game against the Ravens. Use him as you normally would in your IDP lineups.
Dolphins MLB Kiko Alonso (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game at Baltimore. He popped up on Thursday's injury report with a limited workout but returned to full work on Friday. We'll check his status Sunday but expect him to play.
The Dolphins will not have starting strong-side LB Koa Misi (neck) or weak-side LB Jelani Jenkins (groin) tonight against the Bengals. Both players are inactive. Four other questionable starters will play, though: MLB Kiko Alonso (hamstring), DE Jason Jones (ankle), S Reshad Jones (knee) and CB Xavien Howard (quad) are all active. The Dolphins will also reportedly replace CB Byron Maxwell in the starting lineup with Tony Lippett.
NFL Network reports that CB Byron Maxwell's shoulder checked out and that the trade sending him to Miami will go through Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles will send Maxwell and LB Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins for a 5-spot move up in Round 1 of the NFL Draft. Philly will now pick 8th, while Miami will pick 13th. That doesn't seem like a big price for a pair of potential defensive starters, but the Eagles clearly wanted to unload Maxwell's big contract as well.
Pro Football Talk reports that the Dolphins have rescinded the transition tag they placed on DE Olivier Vernon. The tag already would have allowed Vernon to negotiate with other teams. Removing the tag allows his camp to talk to potential suitors before Wednesday afternoon's official start for free agency. It also takes away Miami's power to match any offer sheet Vernon might sign. We expect 1 of the top pass rushers on the market to land a big deal somewhere else -- probably quickly. In other Dolphins defensive news, the shoulder injury that ended Eagles CB Byron Maxwell's 2015 season early is reportedly threatening the trade that would send him and LB Kiko Alonso to Miami. We'll see how this one plays out.
The Associated Press reports that the Eagles have agreed to trade CB Byron Maxwell and LB Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins for an undisclosed draft pick. The deal reportedly won't be officially announced until Wednesday. Philly signed Maxwell to a large free-agent deal just last offseason, when Chip Kelly was running personnel. Kelly also traded RB LeSean McCoy to Buffalo for Alonso, only to watch the LB suffer a knee injury in Week 2 and never return to full playing time. The Dolphins pick up a pair of potential immediate starters at positions of weakness. The Eagles likely viewed Alonso as expendable given their switch to a 4-3 base under new DC Jim Schwartz and the 2015 emergence of rookie LB Jordan Hicks. He and Kendricks could prove to be strong IDP options in the rearranged defense. We would expect no higher than a mid-round pick to go Philly's way, given Maxwell's big contract and Alonso's 2 straight seasons with knee injuries. Of course, both players will need to pass physicals to finalize the deal.
So much for the positive spin on Eagles ILB Jordan Hicks' pectoral injury. FOX's Jay Glazer reports that Hicks will hit IR after suffering a tear, which a Monday MRI must have revealed. That clears the way for Kiko Alonso to reclaim his starting -- and likely full-time -- job next to Mychal Kendricks. Alonso returned Sunday night from a Week 2 knee injury. Both Philly ILBs carry top-20 fantasy potential at their position the rest of the way
Updating a previous item, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Eagles expect ILB Jordan Hicks to miss 2-4 weeks with the pectoral injury he suffered late in Sunday night's win over Dallas. That's relative good news, because it indicates they don't believe Hicks suffered a complete tear -- which would end his season. The rookie will undergo further tests to determine the extend of the injury. In the meantime, it looks like Philly will be back to its season-opening duo of Kiko Alonso and Mychal Kendricks at ILB in Week 10 against Miami.
Eagles LB Jordan Hicks will have an MRI on a pectoral injury he suffered late in Sunday night's win over the Cowboys, according to NJ.com. He said after the game that he feels fine but acknowledged the issue might cost him some time. We'll see what the MRI says. Before the injury, Hicks continued an impressive string of play that will make it tough for the Eagles to push him out of the lineup in favor of just-returned Kiko Alonso. Hicks started over Alonso at Dallas in the veteran's 1st game back since a Week 2 knee injury.
Eagles ILB Kiko Alonso is probable for Sunday's game at Dallas, which would be his 1st game back since a Week 2 knee injury. We wouldn't bet on full playing time in his 1st game back, especially considering that Alonso injured the same knee in which he tore the ACL last year. But there's plenty of time for him to return to IDP prominence beyond this week. And his return can only help the team D. Rookie Jordan Hicks has played quite well amid injuries to Alonso and Mychal Kendricks, so we'll see what kind of role he might retain now that both are back.
Eagles ILB Kiko Alonso put in a full practice Wednesday for the 1st time since reinjuring his repaired knee back in Week 2. According to ESPN.com, he expects to play against the Cowboys on Sunday. We'll see if he's ready for full duty, but we'd wait at least anothr week before getting Alonso into IDP lineups. Alonso's return will either push rookie Jordan Hicks back out of the starting lineup or at least limit his playing time.
Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks put in a full practice Wednesday. He has missed 3 full games among the past 4 and most of the other with a hamstring injury suffered back in Week 2. The full Wednesday practice has us hopeful for a full return to action at Carolina on Sunday night. We'll certainly watch for further reports on Kendricks' status this week. LB Kiko Alonso also put in a limited practice Wednesday. If he remains out, Kendricks and emergent rookie Jordan Hicks could start together. Hicks has been playing in Kendricks' spot, but veteran DeMeco Ryans suffered a hamstring injury in Monday night's win over the Giants.
Eagles HC Chip Kelly said Thursday that LB Kiko Alonso will miss Sunday's game against the Jets with his knee sprain, according to PhillyVoice's Rich Hoffman. LB Mychal Kendricks, meanwhile, remains a question mark with his hamstring injury. Kelly said he'd work with a trainer Thursday and that the team will "monitor him" heading into Friday and Saturday. Don't plan on having Kendricks in your IDP lineup. DeMeco Ryans figures to start in Alonso's place, with Jordan Hicks joining him if Kendricks can't go.
Eagles LB Kiko Alonso suffered a Grade 2 sprain -- which is a partial tear -- to his left ACL, the same ligament he tore before the 2014 season. Philly.com's Les Bowen reports that the injury is expected to keep him out at least a few weeks but shouldn't end Alonso's season. We'll see what kind of timeline the team puts on it once the injury gets officially announced. DeMeco Ryans took over Alonso's spot and looked like an old backup. He's certainly capable of putting up fantasy numbers with a starting job, though -- especially with ILB Mychal Kendricks also hurt. Losing both inside LBs certainly doesn't help the team D.
Eagles LB Kiko Alonso left Sunday's matchup with Dallas early after suffering a knee injury. The team has ruled him out for the game. We'll keep an eye out for a full diagnosis.
