ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that LB Anthony Walker is signing a 1-year, $3.5 million deal with the Browns. That's not necessarily starter money, but Walker should compete for starter-level playing time in a shaky and unproven Cleveland LB corps. Walker was a solid player for the Colts, though he's coming off his worst overall Pro Football Focus grade through 4 seasons (by far). Walker also ceded the #2 LB role to Bobby Okereke in 2020. We'll see how the Browns' group shakes out.

Browns LB Mack Wilson is questionable for Sunday's game against Washington. If he plays, it would be his season debut after missing the 1st 2 weeks with the hyperextended knee he suffered early in training camp. Even if Wilson is active, he'd make for a shaky IDP option. Wilson fill-in Jacob Phillips (knee) is out for the 2nd straight game. CB Greedy Williams (shoulder) has also been ruled out for the 3rd straight game. Fellow starting CB Denzel Ward (groin) is questionable. Ward came down with the injury in Thursday's practice and then sat out Friday, so he looks like a big question mark for the game. His absence would enhance the matchup for Washington lead WR Terry McLaurin. Cleveland has also ruled out DE Olivier Vernon (abdomen), and replacement Adrian Clayborn (hip) is questionable. Clayborn put in just a limited workout Friday after missing the previous 2 days.

Browns LB Mack Wilson returned to practice Monday for the 1st time since hyperextending a knee on Aug. 18. "To see him back out there was really outstanding," HC Kevin Stefanski said, according to Browns Wire. "He brings energy." Expect Wilson to return to the starting lineup as soon as he's ready. We'll see how quickly he can get back to full-time snaps. He sports the most IDP upside among Browns LBs. CB Greedy Williams (shoulder) and CB Kevin Johnson (lacerated liver) also returned to practice Monday. Neither had taken the field since suffering injuries in August. Williams should reclaim his starting spot opposite Denzel Ward as soon as he's ready. Johnson was expected to serve as the team's 3rd corner. Neither will be much of an IDP option, but their returns should help Cleveland's defense overall.

Browns LB Mack Wilson won't need surgery on his hyperextended left knee, according to multiple reports. He's expected to be ready some time this season, but the Browns expect to miss the starting LB for at least another month. Wilson's absence looks like it'll mean more playing time for LBs Sione Takitaki and Jacob Phillips. Each carries 3-down potential in a fairly shallow defense that has dealt with injuries at every level.

Browns LB Mack Wilson suffered a "significant" hyperextension of his left knee in practice Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Cleveland.com reports that Wilson doesn't yet know whether he'll need surgery, but he tweeted Wednesday like a guy who expects to be out a while: "A lot of emotions running through my head rn ... 5ive1 will be back and better with an even bigger chip on my shoulder I promise you." We'll see about the specifics on Wilson's condition. For now, though, you shouldn't be drafting him in IDP leagues. Cleveland faces a muddle at LB now, with rookie Jacob Phillips, 2nd-year man Sione Takitaki and free-agent addition B.J. Goodson among the leading options for playing time.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that LB Joe Schobert has agreed to a 5-year deal with the Jaguars worth $53.75 million, including $22.5 million guaranteed. That should position Schobert as the MLB starter in a Jacksonville defense with new questions in the LB corps. Does Myles Jack slide out from the middle to start on the weak side in 2020? Will Telvin Smith return from his 2019 personal-life hiatus? And if so, where will he play? We'll see about those. What we can count on is Schobert heading into 2020 with the group's strongest IDP outlook. Back in Cleveland, meanwhile, 2019 rookies Mack Wilson and Sione Takitaki appear to have clear lanes to starting gigs, with Schobert and Christian Kirksey gone. We'll see if the Browns add anyone else at the position.

Browns OLB Christian Kirksey will miss at least Sunday night's game against the Rams with a chest injury he suffered in Week 2, Cleveland.com reports. HC Freddie Kitchens said Thursday that they're still evaluating the injury and wouldn't specify. The concern is that Kirksey tore a pectoral muscle. Cleveland.com reports he might need surgery. We'll keep an eye on Kirksey's situation. Rookie Mack Wilson will start in his place against the Rams and is worth adding in deeper IDP leagues. Kirksey was playing full-time snaps before the injury, and Wilson enjoyed a strong preseason.
