Major Wright Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

The Bucs have placed S Chris Conte on IR with the knee injury that cost him last week's game against the Bears. That keeps Major Wright and Bradley McDougald in place as the top 2 safeties for Sunday's game at Carolina, though neither looks particularly attractive for IDP use in a negative scoring matchup.

Buccaneers S Major Wright will miss today's trip to Tampa Bay because of an abdominal injury. That shouldn't affect your IDP plans as far as Wright's concerned, but his absence should help leave more snaps available for other Bucs safeties in an upside fantasy matchup. Bradley McDougald is our top target here, with Chris Conte an option in deeper leagues.

The Buccaneers listed FS Bradley McDougald and SS Major Wright as starters when they released their initial depth chart Thursday. The 2nd-year McDougald has been deemed an upside talent who fits HC Lovie Smith's scheme well. Wright has been up and down through 5 seasons spent mostly with the Bears. He's an average talent and not worth any special IDP attention. Overall, the defensive depth charted provided no surprises. Bruce Carter's penciled in at MLB, with Danny Lansanah on the strong side. The D-line includes: DE Jacquies Smith, DT Gerald McCoy, DT Clinton McDonald and DE George Johnson. Check out our 2015 IDP rankings to see which of these players might be worth draft-day consideration.

The Bucs D will miss DT Clinton McDonald today against the Bengals. A hamstring injury kept him out of practice all week. Akeem Spence will fill in. The Bucs will have starting safety Major Wright, at least. He had been limited by a shoulder injury this week but put in a full workout on Friday.

The Bucs will play S Major Wright in the role vacated by S Mark Barron's trade to the Rams this week. It's a big change for a guy Tampa Bay cut at the end of the preseason. Wright had worthwhile fantasy moments as a starter with the Bears but was never a consistent IDP factor. He'll need to prove his worth before we get interested in using him this time around. Barron was solid but no stud in IDP leagues before his trade.

Bears S Major Wright is inactive for today's visit to Minnesota.  He suffered a hamstring injury in Friday's practice and joined the injury report as "questionable."  Vikings QB Christian Ponder and his WRs aren't good enough to become fantasy sleepers, but Wright's absence might help TE John Carlson a bit.

Bears S Major Wright is questionable for Sunday's clash with the Vikings after pulling a hamstring in practice Friday.  We haven't seen specifics on how significant the injury is, but it delivers a big blow to Wright's IDP outlook.  Even if he's ready to start the game, hamstring guys carry plenty of risk for re-injury.  Wright's fantasy production has lagged anyway after a strong start to the season.  Check our DB rankings to see who makes for a better option.

The Bears will be without both starting safeties in today's matchup with the Packers. FS Major Wright and SS Chris Harris are inactive, leaving the starting jobs to Brandon Meriweather and Craig Steltz. Both figure to be tested often by an electric Green Bay pass offense.

Bears FS Major Wright left Sunday's game after suffering a "head injury" on a scary play. Wright ducked his head while going low on a 2nd-half tackle and lay motionless for a minute or 2 on the field after taking a blow to the head. He was able to walk off but didn't returned. This 1 sure has the signs of being a concussion, but the team has released no official word. Combined with SS Chris Harris' injury deactivation, this left the Bears with Craig Steltz and Brandon Meriweather at safety. Harris says he expects to return for the Week 3 meeting with the Packers. If Wright is out, Meriweather could slide to the FS spot in his place. He has the ability to play either spot, and the Bears made him the highest paid S on the roster after the Patriots released him. Should Meriweather perform well, we could see him and Harris man the position going forward. We'll keep an eye on the situation this week and beyond.

S Major Wright is running with the starters and looks like the favorite to stay there at SS. DC Rod Marinelli said that players tend to make big steps in their 2nd years in his scheme. He also called Wright an "excellent tackler" who is also good on the ball in coverage. Wright missed the 1st half of last season with a hamstring injury but was a key reason the Bears didn't try to re-sign Danieal Manning. He should be in for more than the 72 total tackles that Manning collected last year.
