Raiders RB Marcel Reece has been suspended 4 games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.  He'll miss the final game of this season and the first 3 games of the 2016 campaign.  Reece has always been an impressive athlete for a 6'1, 250-pounder but has never carved out a consistent enough role to be a reliable fantasy option.  He carried 10 times and caught 30 balls in 15 games this year.

Raiders HC Jack Del Rio confirmed on Monday that RB Latavius Murray sustained a concussion in the loss to the Steelers.  “Looks like he is going to bounce back fine," Del Rio added.  It's Murray's 2nd concussion in the last 12 months, though.  Consider him no better than 50-50 to be cleared in time for Sunday's game against the Vikings.  Taiwan Jones, Marcel Reece, Roy Helu and Jamize Olawale could all see more action if Murray can't go.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports that the Raiders have reached a deal with RB Roy Helu. Oakland's backfield certainly presents opportunity, with Latavius Murray as the leading incumbent despite just 82 career carries to date. Maurice Jones-Drew retired this offseason, and Darren McFadden's a free agent. There's room for both Murray and Helu to play significant roles, though we could see Helu continue to serve primarily as a pass-catcher. He caught 49, 31 and 42 passes in his 3 mostly healthy seasons with Washington. Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo reports that Helu's deal is for 2 years and a little more than $4 million. Of course, Marcel Reece seems like he'll continue to go under-utilized.

Raiders RB Marcel Reece (foot) was back at practice on Tuesday.  His X-ray and MRI on Monday evidently came back clean.  Reece has quietly finished among the top 44 PPR RBs in 2 straight seasons, so he's worth a look at the end of your best-ball drafts.

Raiders RB Marcel Reece suffered a foot injury on Sunday and did not practice on Monday. He's scheduled to undergo an MRI and is out indefinitely, according to insider Jerry McDonald. It sounds like Reece might be dealing with a significant injury. Avoid him in fantasy drafts until we learn more.

Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) put in a full week of practice and is probable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.  He's fully expected to resume feature-back duties.  That makes him a low-end RB2, despite the difficult matchup.  RB Marcel Reece is unlikely to see more than a handful of touches.  RB Darren McFadden (ankle) has been ruled out.

Raiders RB Rashad Jennings has passed all his concussion tests, according to insider Vic Tafur.  Barring a setback this week, he'll be back for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.  There's no reason to believe the Raiders won't go back to Jennings as their lead back, despite RB Marcel Reece's impressive Week 14 performance.  Reece won't be a Week 15 fantasy option.  Jennings will be a RB2 against Kansas City's middling run defense.

Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) is inactive for today’s game against the Jets.  RB Darren McFadden (ankle) is also out.  That leaves Marcel Reece as Oakland’s feature back.  15+ touches will make him a RB3 or flex option, despite the tough matchup.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) is not expected to play against the Jets today.  He was limited in practice all week, but it sounds like he didn't receive full clearance.  With RB Darren McFadden (ankle) also out, RB Marcel Reece will step in as Oakland's lead back.  It's a tough matchup against the league's top-ranked RB defense, but 15+ touches will make Reece a viable RB3 or flex.

Raiders RB Rashad Jennings suffered a hamstring injury near the end of the 2nd quarter of Sunday night's game.  He didn't play in the 2nd half, finishing with 10 carries for 41 yards.  Marcel Reece finished out the game as Oakland's lead back, carrying 7 times for 32 yards and catching 3 balls for 25 more.  With Jennings and Darren McFadden (hamstring) now looking iffy for Week 6, Reece could find himself in the starting lineup.  He'd be just a RB3 or flex option against a tough Chiefs defense.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) is inactive for tonight's game against the Chargers.  Most of the Oakland media expects him to be sidelined through the team's Week 7 bye.  RB Marcel Reece (knee) is active tonight and figures to see an increased role in the passing game.  Rashad Jennings will be the lead back and is a good bet for 15+ touches.

Raiders RB Marcel Reece (knee) has put in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday.  His MRI came back negative, and it looks like Reece has a legitimate chance to play against the Chargers on Sunday night.  That'd put a serious dent in RB Rashad Jennings' fantasy appeal.  We'll have another Reece update tomorrow.

Raiders HC Dennis Allen would not provide a timetable for RB Marcel Reece's return.  He only said that Reece had an MRI and that he will not need surgery.  It sounds like he avoided a serious injury but could still be looking at a multi-week absence.  Reece and Darren McFadden (hamstring) seem unlikely to play against the Raiders this Sunday, leaving Rashad Jennings as Oakland's feature back.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden suffered a hamstring injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game.  He's being called questionable to return, but we doubt he'll be back.  RB Marcel Reece exited with a knee injury, leaving Rashad Jennings as Oakland's lead back.

Raiders HC Dennis Allen has been impressed with rookie RB Latavius Murray in OTAs.  “Probably the thing that’s been most impressive is that he’s picked up everything offensively from a schematic standpoint, assignment wise,” Allen said. “He’s done a great job. He’s done a nice job in pass protection. That’s one of the things you see with young backs that they struggle with at times.”  Learning the offense and pass protection are 2 of the biggest stumbling blocks for rookie RBs.  The fact that Murray is already excelling in both areas is promising news.  At 6'2, 223 pounds with 4.38 speed, he certainly has the physical tools to make an immediate impact.  Murray is battling with Rashad Jennings and Marcel Reece for Oakland's backup RB job.  The winner will have fantasy appeal as Darren McFadden's handcuff.

Central Florida HC George O'Leary told ESPN.com that Oakland got an "NFL-ready" talent when it drafted UCF RB Latavius Murray in Round 6. "They are getting a player that is good in just about everything he does," he said. "He can run. He knows blocking protections. He has really good hands of the backfield. He can help on special teams. They are getting a good player." In a wide-open, largely uninspiring class of RBs, Murray carries fantasy sleeper potential. His landing in Oakland helps. Behind the injury-prone Darren McFadden sits only Rashad Jennings, Marcel Reece and Taiwan Jones. Look to the 6'3, 224-pound Murray as an upside pick in the middle of your dynasty rookie draft. Murray capped his college career with 1,106 rushing yards, 27 catches for 231 yards and 19 total TDs last season.

Raiders OC Greg Olson has gushed about RB Darren McFadden since taking the job back in mid-January.  But he's also excited to work with RB/FB hybrid Marcel Reece.  "He's got such a unique set of skills for a fullback," Olson said. "He's a college wide receiver. He'll present some matchup issues... To see him get out of the backfield and to spread out in some of the one-back sets and empty sets and look at the matchups you can get with him was exciting as well. He does have tremendous speed. He has very good hands. He has loose hips. He can run some of those option, choice routes that are matchup nightmares for defensive players."  Olson mentioned Reece as a possibility on 3rd downs.  Coming off a 52-catch season, Reece could be an asset for PPR leaguers again in 2013 -- even if Darren McFadden manages to stay healthy.

7:05pm EST 12/6/12

As expected, Raiders RB Darren McFadden (ankle) is active for tonight's game against the Broncos.  RBs Mike Goodson (ankle) and Marcel Reece (hamstring, quad) are active too.  We're looking at a committee attack here, but McFadden is our bet to lead the backfield in touches.  Still, he's just a RB3 or flex against a stout Broncos defense.

Raiders RB Marcel Reece (hamstring, quad) is listed as probable for Thursday night's game against the Broncos.  He was limited in practice the past 2 days.  Reece will play tomorrow night, but he won't be at 100%.  And with both Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson set to return, Reece will head back to a strict pass-catching role.  He's an extremely weak fantasy option.
