Bills edge rusher Jerry Hughes will be moving back to a primarily OLB role in 2016 as Buffalo plans to play a truer 3-4 front, according to the team website. That's not surprising, given Rex Ryan's history of favoring such a system. He likely leaned 4-3 in 2015 to leverage a defensive roster that better fit that formation. Hughes underwhelmed as a 3-4 OLB in Indy after arriving as a 1st-round pick, but we'd bet on Ryan being able to put him in position to make plays -- as well as Hughes having grown in general since those days. The more important factor for IDP owners will be whether Hughes switches to a LB designation for 2016. That would lower his fantasy football value, though his double-digit sack potential will keep him relevant either way. Keep an eye on the potential position switch in your league as we head into drafting season. Ditto for Marcell Dareus and a potential switch from DT to DE in leagues that split those positions.

Bills DL Marcell Dareus will miss the team's opener against the Colts. The league announced Thursday that he'll serve a 1-game suspension for last year's drug-possession arrest. Dareus apologized in an official statement and took responsibility for the situation, so an appeal doesn't seem to be in the works. The Buffalo D could certainly use him against Indy, but missing Dareus for 1 game doesn't alter the fantasy outlook for 1 of the league's best defenses.

The Bills have ruled out DT Marcell Dareus (knee) and CB Stephon Gilmore (concussion) for today's finale against the Patriots. Each player had been listed as doubtful. Losing 2 of their best defensive players takes some DFS sleeper appeal away from a Buffalo defense that figures to face Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo for half of today's contest and quite possibly see no TE Rob Gronkowski. The Bills still hold some contrarian value in a tournament lineup after already limiting Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers in recent weeks.

Bills DT Marcell Dareus left Sunday's game at Oakland with a knee injury in the 1st half. The team announced that he will not return. We'll check on his status for Week 17, but the Bills might not have anything to play for other than pride when they face the Patriots next Sunday. That wouldn't help Dareus' chances of playing through a physical issue.

Bills DT Marcell Dareus joined his team 4 days late for camp Wednesday, telling The Associated Press that he hoped to impress teammates and coaches with his devotion.  "I have a passion for this game and I want to be here to help this organization achieve its goals," Dareus said in a statement. "There are things I need to work on professionally and personally to make sure I can be accountable to myself, my family, this team and this community."  Of course, he spent his 1st day with the team on a stationary bike on the sideline after failing his initial physical.  This follows an offseason that included 2 arrests.  So if Dareus truly has a passion for this game, he might want to actually start showing it soon.  We're not dropping him down the 2014 IDP rankings yet, but we will if he doesn't shape up soon ... literally.

Bills DL Marcell Dareus was arrested in Alabama on Monday night and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Police allegedly found synthetic cannabis in the player's car during a traffic stop.  No offseason arrest is good news, but this doesn't seem like the kind of incident that will cost Dareus much on the field.  Perhaps the league suspends him for a game, but this is the first off-field issue we've heard of for Dareus.  We'll see what happens from here.

The Bills defense will likely miss DE Marcell Dareus (ankle) and S Aaron Williams (ribs) for at least the 1st practice this week, according to ESPN.com.  HC Doug Marrone told reporters on Monday that he expects each starter to miss Wednesday's workout and said "we'll see" how they progress by Thursday.  If healthy, each would present intriguing IDP value vs. the Dolphins on Sunday.

Bills DE Marcell Dareus left Sunday's game early with an ankle injury.  The team provided no official word on his status afterward, but Tim Graham of The Buffalo News reported that teammates said he'll be "fine."  An active Dareus would make for a strong IDP starting option against Miami in Week 16.  We'll see what the Bills say this week.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Bills DE Mario Williams suffered an ankle sprain in the Week 3 loss to the Jets.  Williams reportedly expects to play in Week 4 against the Ravens, as long as his ankle improves throughout the week.  We recommend lining up a potential replacement for Williams' DL slot in your IDP lineup.  HC Doug Marrone also said that DL Marcell Dareus will be "fine" following his own ankle sprain.  We'll see when the injury reports start arriving later this week.  The Bills did, however, place DE Alex Carrington on IR with a torn left quad.
