Redskins RB Matt Jones (hip) is inactive for today’s game against the Cowboys. It’s unclear how much RB Alfred Morris will play. RBs Chris Thompson and Pierre Thomas will handle mop-up duty. Avoid this backfield in fantasy lineups.

Redskins RB Matt Jones (hip) is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. He won’t play. It’s unclear how much work RB Alfred Morris will get in the meaningless finale. Avoid the Washington backfield in fantasy lineups.

Redskins HC Jay Gruden said Wednesday that "it’s important for us to be healthy come playoff time" and hinted at resting starters in Sunday's season finale against the Cowboys.  “Number one, it’s the health of our football team with these injured guys who are legitimately injured and can’t play," he said. "Then, from there, we’ll have to figure out the able bodies that we have — personnel groupings will be adjusted — and then throughout the course of the game, we’ll make adjustments depending on the situation.”  We're not expecting WR DeSean Jackson or TE Jordan Reed to play much, if at all, this weekend.  QB Kirk Cousins, RBs Alfred Morris and Matt Jones and WR Pierre Garcon also seem unlikely to play the full game.  Try to avoid Washington players in Week 17 fantasy lineups.

Washington RB Matt Jones (hip) is inactive for tonight's game against the Eagles. That makes Alfred Morris easier to use against a weak Philly run defense.

Washington RB Matt Jones (hip) is questionable for Saturday's game at Philly. He put in limited practices the past 3 days, though, which might point to him being ready to play. Of course, Jones hasn't made for much of a fantasy football option even when healthy. Missing Jones, though, could only help RB Alfred Morris find work.

Redskins RB Alfred Morris (ribs) put in a full week of practice and is probable for Sunday’s game against the Giants. He’ll remain in a 3-man committee with Matt Jones and Chris Thompson. It’s a backfield best avoided in fantasy lineups.

Redskins RB Alfred Morris (ribs) took part in positional drills during the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media.  He might be listed as "limited" on the official injury report, but he's on track to play against the Giants this weekend.  None of Washington's RBs -- Morris, Matt Jones, Chris Thompson -- are reliable fantasy options.

Redskins HC Jay Gruden labeled RB Alfred Morris "day-to-day" with the rib injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.  He didn't return to that one, but it sounds like he has a decent chance to be ready for this weekend's game against the Giants.  Morris' presence would just make this muddled backfield even tougher to trust in fantasy.

Washington RB Alfred Morris suffered a rib injury in Sunday's game against Carolina and is questionable to return.  Matt Jones will see a boost in playing time with Morris hurt.

10:35am EDT 10/25/15

Redskins RB Matt Jones (toe) is active for today’s game against the Bucs. He put in a full week of practice and shouldn’t be limited. Jones figures to split carries with RB Alfred Morris but could see a bunch of passing-down work with RB Chris Thompson (back) out.

Redskins RB Matt Jones (toe) put in a full week of practice and is probable for Sunday’s game against the Bucs. He figures to split ball-carrying duties with RB Alfred Morris. Jones could also play a significant role on passing downs with RB Chris Thompson (back) listed as doubtful.

Redskins HC Jay Gruden said that RB Matt Jones (toe) "looked good" in Wednesday's practice.  He was limited all last week before being held out of Sunday's game against the Jets.  Gruden refused to commit to Jones returning for this weekend's game vs. Tampa Bay, but it sounds like the rookie is trending in the right direction.

10:30am EDT 10/18/15

Redskins RB Matt Jones (toe) is inactive for today’s game against the Jets. That should mean 15+ carries for Alfred Morris, but he’s just a RB3 vs. 1 of the best run defenses in the league.

7:04am EDT 10/18/15

ESPN's Britt McHenry reports that Washington RB Matt Jones is not expected to play against the Jets today. He suffered a toe injury late in the Week 5 OT loss at Atlanta. His absence should mean a bigger workload for Alfred Morris, though the matchup still makes him a lackluster fantasy play. RB Chris Thompson could also play more snaps with Jones out and be a PPR factor.

UPDATE: Mike Jones of the Washington Post has confirmed that Jones has been ruled out.

Redskins RB Matt Jones (toe) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jets. He put in 3 limited practices this week, so we expect him to play. But at less than 100% in a brutal matchup, he’s not a recommended fantasy starter.

Redskins RB Matt Jones (toe) put in a limited practice on Wednesday.  That puts him on track to play against the Jets this weekend, but we're worried about how that toe will impact him.  That, plus a brutal matchup, makes Jones a low-end RB3 or flex.

Redskins RB Matt Jones sprained his big toe in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.  HC Jay Gruden didn't update the severity afterward, but toe issues tend to be difficult for players -- especially RBs -- to play through.  We'll keep a close eye on Jones going forward.  He led Washington with 11 carries vs. Atlanta but mustered just 20 yards.
