The Falcons have downgraded QB Matt Ryan to out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. That means Matt Schaub will start for Atlanta, raising the fantasy ceiling for the Seattle defense.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Seahawks. He returned to practice on Friday, and HC Dan Quinn said they'll see how the ankle responds and make a decision on Ryan's status Saturday. Check back then for another update. QB Matt Schaub will draw the start if Ryan is out.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday. He's looking unlikely to play against the Seahawks this weekend, but check back tomorrow for another update on his status.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan (ankle) won't practice on Wednesday, HC Dan Quinn said. Ryan could probably play against the Seahawks this weekend without practicing, but we're still guessing that he'll sit that one out with Atlanta's looming Week 9 bye. We'll get another update on Ryan tomorrow.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan suffered what appeared to be a right knee injury in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game against the Rams. He limped back to the locker room with trainers and won't return with Atlanta trailing by 24. We'll look for an update on the injury. QB Matt Schaub is the Falcons' backup.

Update: Ryan has an ankle injury, according to the team's official statement.

Ravens QB Matt Schaub (knee, shoulder) practiced all week and is probable for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. He’ll step back in for QB Jimmy Clausen but shouldn’t even sniff a fantasy lineup.

Ravens QB Matt Schaub (knee, shoulder) didn’t practice all week but is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. If he can’t go, QB Jimmy Clausen will get the call. Neither is a fantasy option, and Seattle’s defense is an elite fantasy play regardless of who’s under center for Baltimore.

Ravens QB Matt Schaub did not practice on Wednesday due to knee and shoulder injuries.  His status for this weekend's game against the Seahawks is uncertain.  If Schaub can't go, Baltimore will roll with QB Jimmy Clausen, who might actually be an upgrade.

Ravens QB Joe Flacco tore his ACL in Sunday's win over the Rams, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  Flacco might also have a torn MCL.  Either way, he's done for the season and isn't a lock to be ready for the start of the 2016 campaign.  Matt Schaub will take over as Baltimore's starting QB the rest of this season.  The 34-year-old has devolved into an INT machine.  Schaub was picked off 14 times in 10 games with the Texans in 2013, tossed 2 INTs in 10 pass attempts for the Raiders last year and 2 more on 50 attempts this preseason.  Schaub won't be a fantasy option and is a downgrade for Baltimore's passing game.

The Ravens have signed QB Matt Schaub.  Turning 34 in June, Schaub has tossed 10 TDs and 16 INTs in 11 appearances over the past 2 seasons.  He's well past his prime and will obviously be a pure backup in Baltimore.  QB Joe Flacco has yet to miss a game through 7 NFL seasons.

CSN Bay Area reports that Carr suffered a high ankle sprain and an MCL sprain. Oakland has a well-timed bye in Week 5, but both of Carr's injuries often cost players multiple weeks. We'll see what the timetable is here. Matt Schaub missed the trip to London to be with his wife after an emergency C-section. Assuming he's back for Week 6, he'd likely start over Matt McGloin, who threw 2 INTs in relief of Carr on Sunday.

The Raiders have announced QB Derek Carr as their Week 1 starter over Matt Schaub, according to Jay Glazer.  It's no shock after Carr put in a stellar preseason finale and Schaub spent August struggling with his arm strength.  Carr looks interesting as a long-term fantasy prospect, but we wouldn't want to trust him this season, even in a 2-QB format.  The Oakland pass-catching corps doesn't offer a ton of support/upside.

Raiders beat writer Vic Tafur believes there's a "100% chance" QB Derek Carr starts the season opener.  It's unclear if Tafur has inside information from the team or if this is just an educated guess.  Carr has clearly been the Raiders' best QB this preseason, whether you're looking at the numbers or the tape.  If he's not under center for Week 1, he should be by October.  Neither Raiders QB is worth rostering right now in standard fantasy leagues.  If you're looking for one in a 2-QB league, Carr is your guy.

Starting Thursday night's preseason finale against the Seahawks, Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 11 of 13 passes for 143 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs.  Most of it came against Seattle's backups, but it was the most impressive QB play we've seen from a Raider since Rich Gannon.  Carr finishes the preseason with a 66.6% completion rate, 7.2 yards-per-attempt average and 4:1 TD-to-INT ratio.  All 3 marks blow QB Matt Schaub out of the water.  Carr clearly gives the Raiders offense its best chance.  We'll see if the team is willing to roll with the rookie after handing Schaub $8 million guaranteed this offseason.

Raiders QB Matt Schaub sat out Sunday's practice with a sore elbow.  “He came in yesterday afternoon with a little soreness in his elbow," HC Dennis Allen said. "We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow and kind of take that day by day."  It doesn't sound like Schaub is in danger of missing Week 1, but this is just another reason to stay far, far away from him in fantasy drafts.  Schaub has been brutal this preseason, completing just 51.5% of his passes, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt and failing to throw a TD.  We'll see rookie Derek Carr under center for Oakland before long.  He took 1st-team reps with Schaub sidelined Sunday.

Raiders QB Derek Carr won't play in the team's 3rd preseason game on Friday.  He's been cleared from last week's concussion but is still dealing with sore ribs.  The rookie seemed to be making up ground on QB Matt Schaub, but this kills any chance he had at winning the Week 1 starting job.  We're still expecting Carr to make starts this season, but you should avoid Raiders QBs in your fantasy draft.

Raiders QB Derek Carr is on the practice field on Monday.  He's wearing some extra chest padding, but neither the rib injury nor concussion he suffered over the weekend is a major concern.  Carr has outplayed QB Matt Schaub this preseason, completing 19 of 32 passes (59.4%) for 183 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.  The veteran still figures to get the Week 1 nod, but we'll see the rookie at some point this season.  Neither guy is worth rostering in redraft fantasy leagues.

Raiders QB Derek Carr suffered a concussion and rib injury in the 4th quarter of Friday night's preseason game, according to the Contra Costa Times.  HC Dennis Allen said the concussion was what forced Carr out of the game, while the team had no immediate word on the severity of either injury.  Allen also said he was pleased with Carr's performance before the injuries: "He was better this game. He made some improvement. ... Overall, he took a step forward."  The 2nd-round rookie would likely have trouble battling Matt Schaub for the job if either issue causes him to miss time.  Neither QB will be attractive in fantasy, though, and there probably won't be a significant split between them in terms of how they impact the fantasy outlooks of the Oakland WRs.

Per Raiders insider Scott Bair, QB Matt Schaub will start 16 games if “all goes according to plan.” The coaching staff is reportedly confident in a bounce-back season from Schaub. They also want to develop rookie QB Derek Carr slowly, despite an impressive offseason from the Fresno State product. Carr remains a decent bet to start games in 2014, but a lack of weapons make both QBs avoidable in redraft leagues.

Raiders insider Vic Tafur believes rookie QB Derek Carr could push QB Matt Schaub for the starting job in training camp.  Carr was "very impressive" in spring practices, according to Tafur.  HC Dennis Allen said that Schaub is still his starter but added that "everything is written in pencil."  OC Greg Olson raved about Carr's early performance.  “I really, really like him,” Olson said. “Everybody knew he was accurate, but he is more accurate than we thought … We’ll have to wait and see how he does against a live rush, but so far his intelligence, accuracy and quickness in getting the ball out has been excellent.  He is very intelligent, and he may not need to redshirt. We like his comfort level. Right away, you can see that this is not too big for him.”  Schaub, who tanked in Houston last year, was never a good bet to last all 16 games this season.  Now it sounds like he might not even make it to Week 1 as the starter.  Obviously, Raiders QBs should be avoided in redraft fantasy leagues.
