Just a day after the Bengals released him, multiple reports say DE Michael Johnson is re-signing with the team. It's not a surprising move, given that Johnson had been running as a starter in preseason. Expect him to reprise his 2017 role, perhaps ceding a few more snaps to the younger guys at the position.

The Bengals have cut veteran DE Michael Johnson. He had been back with the team for 3 years after leaving briefly for Tampa in 2014 free agency. Overall, Johnson has played 8 years in Cincinnati. He just started the team's 3rd preseason game opposite DE Carlos Dunlap, and re-signing could still be an option. We'll see if the Bengals make any more moves on that front before altering our IDP projections for the team's younger DEs. Jordan Willis and rookie Sam Hubbard present intrigue on that front.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson is active for today's game against the Jaguars. He's a weak IDP option, though, with a back issue that forced him out of last week's game early.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Johnson put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday's. He's not worth waiting on for IDP owners, but we'll update his status Sunday in case you need to.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson (shoulder) is active for tonight's game against the Texans. He doesn't make for a strong IDP play against Houston, though.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson (calf) is active for tonight's game against the Giants after entering the night questionable.

The Bengals have officially ruled MLB Rey Maualuga (leg) out for Monday's game against the Giants, as expected. LB Vontaze Burfict (thigh) and DE Michael Johnson (calf) are questionable for the game. Burfict returned to a full practice Saturday after putting in limited workouts the 1st 2 days. Johnson started with a limited workout Thursday, was a full participant Friday and then had no status (whatever that means) on the Saturday report.

Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (thigh) and DE Michael Johnson (calf) were limited in practice both Thursday and Friday, despite the team coming off a Week 9 bye. We'll watch for their game statuses Saturday, heading into the Monday night game against the Giants.

The Bengals have deemed DE Michael Johnson (back) and CB Adam Jones (foot) doubtful for Sunday's game at Arizona. Their absences further downgrade a Cincinnati D that didn't make for an attractive fantasy option anyway, and can only help the Cardinals' pass offense.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain on Sunday, according to Pro Football Talk. The injury is expected to keep him out 4 weeks, which would put Johnson back on the field just before the start of the regular season. It's tough to imagine him being ready to start at that point. We'll see how the Bengals handle the DE spot opposite Carlos Dunlap. The injury looks particularly discouraging after a Week 1 ankle sprain seemed to derail Johnson's 2014 season in Tampa.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that DE Michael Johnson has reached a deal with the Bengals. The reported 4-year contract returns Johnson to the team that drafted him back in 2009. After 5 years in Cincinnati, Johnson signed for big money with Tampa Bay last offseason as a free agent. Then he sprained an ankle in Week 1 and never seemed to get on track. If he can stay healthy, Johnson should boost a Bengals pass rush that Pro Football Focus graded worst in the league last year but 20th in 2013 (with Johnson aboard). Expect Johnson to win back his starting right DE job and present some solid IDP value. Dynasty IDP owners waiting for a DE Margus Hunt breakthrough will apparently have to keep waiting.

The Buccaneers have released DE Michael Johnson just a year after giving him a huge free-agent contract. Johnson sprained an ankle early in his 1st game with Tampa and never seemed to get back to full strength after that. Cincinnati -- his previous team -- and Minnesota -- where former Bengals DC Mike Zimmer is the head man -- have been rumored as potential suitors since before Johnson actually got cut loose. If he's healthy, Johnson should again bring sack upside to whatever team employs him in 2015. Heading into just his age-28 season, Johnson still provides intrigue for IDP owners in both redraft and dynasty formats.

Buccaneers CB Alterraun Verner is inactive for the 2nd straight game because of a hamstring injury. His absence only further enhances an already wonderful fantasy football matchup for Washington QB Robert Griffin and his receivers. The Bucs will have starting right DE Michael Johnson at least. He's active despite a questionable tag for a hand injury that kept him out in Week 10.

The Tampa Bay defense could be without CB Alterraun Verner and DE Michael Johnson again in Week 11. Verner is questionable after putting in 3 limited practices this week with the hamstring injury that cost him Week 10. We'll keep an eye on his game status, but Verner will make for a risky IDP play even if he starts. Johnson also missed Week 10 but seems likely to return Sunday after putting in full practices Thursday and Friday this week. The Tampa team D isn't worth a fantasy look no matter who's in or out. Missing Verner would only further enhance an already positive passing matchup for Washington QB Robert Griffin and his WRs.

The Buccaneers have deactivated CB Alterraun Verner (knee) and DE Michael Johnson (hand) for today's game against Atlanta. Verner entered the weekend doubtful, but Johnson had been playing through his injury. He has struggled all year, though, especially from a fantasy standpoint. Let's hope you weren't planning on using him in the 1st place. LB Lavonte David (knee) is active, however, after being listed as questionable.

Bucs DE Michael Johnson is active for today's game against the Browns despite a hand injury. Johnson put in limited practices all week. He'll now be dealing with this issue and the ankle sprain that has been dogging him since the opener. That makes him an unattractive IDP play -- especially against Cleveland LT Joe Thomas.

Bucs DE Michael Johnson is active for the Week 4 matchup with the Steelers.  He entered today questionable because of the ankle sprain that has dogged him since the opener.  The injury makes Johnson a weak IDP option anyway.  Tampa will also have DE William Gholston and DT Gerald McCoy on the field as expected.  Each entered Sunday "probable."
