ESPN's Jeff Darlington reports that Dolphins WR DeVante Parker won't play vs. the Bucs today. Parker dealt with hamstring tightness late in the week. With WR Will Fuller (finger) also out, Miami is down to WRs Jaylen Waddle, Preston Williams, Albert Wilson and Mack Hollins. Waddle and TE Mike Gesicki are strong target bets today.

The Dolphins have activated TE Mike Gesicki from the reserve/COVID-19 list. He ended up missing over a week of practice. The Fins are traveling north for a joint practice with the Bears on Wednesday, and Gesicki is expected to participate, per beat writer Armando Salguero. The 25-year-old remains a low-end TE1.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki has been placed on the COVID list, along with TEs Adam Shaheen and Cethan Carter. All 3 were reportedly close contacts of OC George Godsey, who tested positive for the virus. This shouldn't impact Gesicki's status for the start of the season, but we'll let you know when he's cleared to get back on the field.

The Dolphins grabbed TE Hunter Long in the 3rd round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Long enjoyed a productive past 2 years as a pass-catcher at Boston College. He earned 2nd-team All-America honors with a 57-685-5 receiving line in 2020, and even his 28 catches for 2019 fell just 1 short of the team lead. Long averaged a nice 14.6 yards per catch for his BC career but doesn’t look like a deep threat by NFL standards. He might, however, offer enough as a blocker -- on top of his reliable hands -- to win a regular role early in the NFL. This, of course, isn’t a good fantasy landing spot with Mike Gesicki dominating TE targets in Miami.

The Dolphins selected Alabama WR Jaylen Waddle with the 6th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Waddle turned in a super impressive true freshman season back in 2018, hauling in 45 balls for 848 yards and 7 scores on a loaded pass-catching corps. His 848 yards ranked 2nd to only sophomore Jerry Jeudy -- ahead of sophomore Henry Ruggs, sophomore DeVonta Smith and junior Irv Smith. Waddle took a step back as a sophomore, finishing with a 33-560-6 line. But he got off to a monster start this past year, racking up 25 catches for 557 yards and 4 scores over the first 4 games. Waddle actually led DeVonta Smith in yards and matched him in TDs during that span. He went down with a fractured right ankle in game #5, though, and was clearly limited when he returned for the National Championship vs. Ohio State. Waddle is reportedly recovering nicely from that injury and didn’t miss time with any other injuries across his 3 college seasons. The Fins are getting the most explosive WR in this class. Waddle has supersonic speed, routinely blowing by DBs on deep balls and crossers. He also flashes plus contested-catch ability, despite going just 5’9 and 180 pounds. There are shades of Tyreek Hill to his game. No excuses for QB Tua Tagovailoa, who now has former college teammate Waddle plus Will Fuller, DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki.

The Dolphins have promoted Eric Studesville and George Godsey to co-OC positions. Studesville has been Miami's RBs coach for the past 3 seasons; Godsey the TEs coach for the past 2. The only NFL OC experience between the 2 comes from Godsey, who was in the role for the Texans in 2015 and 2016. Those teams ranked 19th and 29th in total yards. It's unclear which guy will call plays for the Fins this coming season.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) is active for tonight's game vs. the Raiders. There's a chance he's limited in his 1st game back from that dislocated shoulder, making him a risky fantasy option.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Saturday night's game against the Raiders. He'll be a risk/reward TE1 if active. We'll get his official status around 6:45 pm ET on Saturday.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. There was a report this past Sunday morning that Gesicki was on track to play vs. New England. He ended up inactive but must have been close to playing. We're tentatively expecting him to give it a go against the Raiders on Saturday night.

11:12am EST 12/20/20

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) is inactive for today’s game against the Patriots. Adam Shaheen and Durham Smythe will share TEs duties. Neither is a bankable fantasy play, especially vs. the league’s 2nd-ranked TE defense.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) has a "real chance" to play vs. the Patriots today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Gesicki will workout before the game to determine whether he can give it a go. He'll obviously carry elevated risk in fantasy lineups if active. We'll get his game status around 11:30 am ET.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday and is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Patriots. The Miami Herald reported earlier in the week that Gesicki was unlikely to play after dislocating his shoulder in last week's loss to the Chiefs, but it looks like he at least has a chance to play in this one. We'll get Miami's inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. It gives him a chance to play vs. New England this weekend. We'll see what Gesicki does tomorrow and how he's listed on Miami's final injury report.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki is expected to miss at least 1 game after dislocating his shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, the Miami Herald reports. Gesicki's absence will leave Miami with TEs Adam Shaheen and Durham Smythe -- but neither is a bankable fantasy play.

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki hurt his right shoulder in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game against the Chiefs and headed back to the locker room with trainers. We'll update his status when we know more.

The Dolphins have placed WR Preston Williams on IR with his foot injury. That means he'll miss at least the next 3 games -- and it sounds like it might be longer than that. HC Brian Flores admitted that the injury is "more significant than we thought." Williams is droppable in most fantasy leagues. His absence leaves DeVante Parker as Miami's clear #1 WR, with Jakeem Grant and Mack Hollins behind him on the depth chart. TE Mike Gesicki could also see a volume boost with Williams sidelined.

The 49ers have ruled CB Emmanuel Moseley (concussion), CB Dontae Johnson (groin) and CB K'Waun Williams (knee, hip) out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. CB Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) is also questionable. He missed last week's game against the Eagles but managed limited workouts this week. We'll check on Witherspoon's status Sunday, though he's not much of an IDP factor either way. The big takeaway here is that the Niners will miss at least 4 of their top 6 corners -- with Richard Sherman still on IR. That can only help Miami QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, WR DeVante Parker and TE Mike Gesicki.

The Dolphins have named Chan Gailey their OC. Gailey has been out of the league since 2016 but has 14 years of experience as a HC or OC with 7 different teams. His track record is largely uninspiring, though, with only 4 of those 14 teams finishing top 10 in yards and 4 finishing top 10 in points. Gailey has tended to skew toward the run, landing 11 offenses inside the top half of the league in rushing attempts. We'll keep an eye on his plans for a Dolphins offense that will have a bunch of new pieces in 2020.
