The Texans on Saturday placed LB Christian Kirksey on IR, following surgery on his fractured thumb. He'll miss the next 3 games but should be back after that. Neville Hewitt looks like his replacement, though we'll see exactly how the playing time gets split among the Houston LBs against Miami this week. This will be the 1st game Kirksey has missed this year.
The Texans have ruled LB Christian Kirksey out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins with his fractured thumb. It's a little surprising after Kirksey played through the injury last week (after it occurred at the end of the Week 7 game). It's tough to know what the LB playing time will look like with Kirksey out. According to the Houston Chronicle, Neville Hewitt "was prepared to play in place of Kirksey last week," when Kirksey played with a "club" on his injured hand. So it appears Hewitt -- rather than Zach Cunningham -- will be the 2nd LB alongside Kamu Grugier-Hill.
Jets ILB C.J. Mosley has opted out for the upcoming season, according to multiple reports. That removes the Jets' big free-agent addition from last offseason for the 2nd straight year. Mosley missed basically all of 2019 after suffering a groin injury in the 1st half of the opener. The defense does get back ILB Avery Williamson from the ACL tear that cost him last season. Neville Hewitt, Blake Cashman and offseason addition Patrick Onwuasor figure to compete for Mosley's role. Williamson gets a big boost to his fantasy ceiling. He finished top 15 among fantasy LBs in 2018 and certainly has that potential again.
Jets ILB Neville Hewitt (neck) is active for today's game against the Raiders, as expected. Use him as you normally would in IDP lineups.
Jets CB Darryl Roberts (calf) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Raiders. He has missed the past 2 weeks with his calf injury. ILB Neville Hewitt (neck) is questionable for the game, but he returned to full playing time in Week 11 and should be good to go.
Jets LBs Neville Hewitt (neck, knee) and Brandon Copeland (hip) are active for today's game against Washington. Hewitt missed the past 4 games with his injury but should see full-time snaps. Copeland likely returns to a backup role, with James Burgess the expected starter next to Hewitt.
Jets LBs Neville Hewitt (neck, knee) and Brandon Copeland (hip, thumb) are questionable for Sunday's game against Washington. Hewitt remained only a limited practice participant, which he has been for weeks. Copeland missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before a limited Friday workout. He has started the past 2 games. We'll see if either player is available for Week 11. CB Darryl Roberts (calf) will likely miss his 2nd straight game. He's doubtful after missing practice all week.
Jets ILB Neville Hewitt is doubtful once again for Sunday's game against the Jets. Hewitt missed the past 3 contests and has been putting in limited practices for a while. In his absence, James Burgess and Brandon Copeland figure to start again. Both guys played 100% of the snaps in last week's loss to the Dolphins. CB Darryl Roberts is also doubtful with a calf injury he suffered during practice this week.
Jets LB Neville Hewitt (neck, knee) took part in a limited practice Wednesday. That's an improvement over last week, when he sat out Wednesday and Thursday before a limited Friday workout. Hewitt hit that weekend "doubtful" and was inactive vs. the Dolphins. He spent the previous week putting in limited practices, though, before sitting out that game. So we'll need to watch Hewitt through the week to see if he can get back for Sunday's clash with the Dolphins. If Hewitt plays, he'd likely push Brandon Copeland back out of the lineup.
Jets LB Neville Hewitt (neck) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. The team will also miss LB Blake Cashman, who landed on IR this week with a shoulder injury. With those 2 out, plus LBs Avery Williamson and Albert McClellan on IR and C.J. Mosley out at least another month, James Burgess will start against Miami. The Jets also signed LB Zach Brown, who got dumped by the Eagles after their Week 6 loss at Minnesota. We've added Burgess to the Week 9 IDP rankings.
Jets HC Adam Gase said Monday that ILB C.J. Mosley will miss the next 5-6 weeks with his groin injury, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. The report added, "No surgery for now." That implies surgery remains an option. If the Jets continue to disappoint over the next 5-6 weeks, then they and Mosley might decide it's not worth bringing him back this season. Mosley looks droppable for most redraft IDP leagues. Rookie Blake Cashman should maintain his starting role for at least those 5-6 weeks. ILB Neville Hewitt (neck, knee) missed Week 8 but took part in limited practices all last week and seems to be nearing a return. We'll watch his status leading up to Sunday's visit to Miami.
The Jets have ruled ILB C.J. Mosley (groin) out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Fellow ILB Neville Hewitt (neck) is doubtful for the game. The Jets will also be without backup ILB Albert McClellan, who has been ruled out with a concussion. Rookie Blake Cashman will start, and OLB Brandon Copeland will slide in to start next to him, according to the New York Post. Cashman is usable in IDP lineups.
Jets LB C.J. Mosley left Monday night's loss to the Patriots in the 4th quarter, still feeling the effects of his Week 1 groin injury. And then he wasn't on the field for Wednesday's practice. "The doctors are doing a really deep dive, trying to figure out where things are coming from," HC Adam Gase said before practice, according to the team website. "It might just be more than a groin. We're just trying to figure all that stuff out." It doesn't sound like we should count on Mosley being available for Week 8. That would mean another start for rookie Blake Cashman -- and maybe more. Neville Hewitt (neck, knee), who missed Monday night's game, returned to a limited workout Wednesday. We'll see if Hewitt can make it back to face Jacksonville on Sunday.
Jets ILB Neville Hewitt is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Patriots. That should mean a 5th straight starter-level appearance for reserve LB Blake Cashman. ILB C.J. Mosley is officially questionable, though he said earlier in the week that he expects to finally return from the Week 1 groin injury that cost him the past 4 games.
Jets LB Neville Hewitt sat out Thursday's practice, listed with both neck and knee ailments. Both injuries are new. Hewitt left Sunday's win over the Cowboys for a stretch but returned to finish the game. We'll see about his status heading toward Monday night's clash with the Patriots.
