The Broncos have hired Mike McCoy as their new OC. It's a homecoming after McCoy spent the 2009-2012 seasons in the same role. His QBs during that stretch ranged from Kyle Orton to Tim Tebow to Peyton Manning. McCoy was able to coax top-15 finishes in total yards and passing yards out of the Orton-led squads. With Tebow in 2011, Denver ranked 1st in rushing attempts and yards but 31st in passing and 23rd in total offense. McCoy's 2012 season with Manning produced a #4 finish in total yards and #2 in points. McCoy struggled as the Chargers' HC for the past 4 years, producing a 27-37 record (although injuries did him no favors). All 4 of those squads led by QB Philip Rivers ranked top 10 in passing yards. McCoy is widely regarded as 1 of the better offensive minds in the game, so this is a nice hire for Denver. He seems to lean toward a pass-heavy attack but has shown the willingness and ability to adjust his scheme. We'll see what he has in mind for this Broncos attack.

The Broncos have hired Vance Joseph as their new HC. The 44-year-old spent the 2016 season as the Dolphins' defensive coordinator after numerous stops as a defensive backs coach in both college and the pros. We'll see who he brings aboard to run the offense.

Broncos insider Mike Klis hears that QB Trevor Siemian will start Sunday's finale against the Raiders but that QB Paxton Lynch will also play. It makes sense for Denver to get a look at both guys -- against the same opponent -- heading into the offseason. Siemian and Lynch figure to battle for the 2017 starting job next summer. Neither guy is a Week 17 fantasy option.

But Denver opted to stick with rookie Paxton Lynch, who completed 14 of 24 passes for 170 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs. The rookie flashed a big arm and good mobility. He looks like a great fit in Kubiak's offense. It's certainly within the realm of possibility that Lynch takes this starting job and runs with it. He's worth adding in all 2-QB leagues and even deeper 1-QB setups.

Siemian will man a run-heavy offense and will simply be asked to not lose games. He's well off the fantasy radar, even in 2-QB leagues. Rookie QB Paxton Lynch remains a good bet to take over at some point this year.

Siemian has yet to attempt a regular-season NFL pass and has averaged just 6.3 yards per attempt with 0 TDs and 1 INT in 2 preseason contests this year. He's nowhere near the fantasy radar and makes WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders scary picks. We're expecting rookie QB Paxton Lynch to take over at some point this year. QB Mark Sanchez isn't even guaranteed a roster spot.

Broncos QB Mark Sanchez is expected to start Thursday's preseason opener, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Sanchez will play the 1st quarter, Trevor Siemian the 2nd and Paxton Lynch the 3rd and 4th. Sanchez appears to have a slight edge in the race for the Week 1 starting job but isn't a lock to hold on to it. None of Denver's QBs are worth drafting in fantasy football right now.

Time to stop snickering at the mentions of QB Trevor Siemian as a potential starter in Denver. The Broncos released their 1st depth chart Monday, which included Siemian listed as co-starter with QB Mark Sanchez. “Nothing’s changed at quarterback,” HC Gary Kubiak said Monday, per The Denver Post. “Mark and Trevor continue to split reps as far as with the first group, and Paxton’s behind those guys.” Kubiak said he will "probably" on Tuesday name the starter for Thursday's exhibition opener, but that the pair will continue to split time ahead of rookie Paxton Lynch. We'd still bet on the more experience Sanchez, but stranger things have certainly happened in preseason than someone beating out the former Jets and Eagles journeyman. We'll be curious to see how Siemian looks in game action.

Lynch still seems like a long shot to win the Week 1 starting job, but he figures to get on the field at some point this year. Mark Sanchez is the favorite for the Broncos' starting QB job heading to training camp, at least according to DT Sylvester Williams. "Going into the camp, I think Coach Kub kind of let us know he’s going to go with Mark and give Mark the opportunity to see what he can do and then go on from there," Williams said on SiriusXM radio. Sanchez has always been the best bet to be under center come Week 1 considering his competition is raw rookie Paxton Lynch and former 7th-rounder Trevor Siemian. Sanchez will need to fall flat on his face to lose the job this summer. That, of course, isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Andrew Mason of the Broncos' official website says the team's starting QB job is a "wide open competition."  Mark Sanchez, Paxton Lynch and even Trevor Siemian have received 1st-team reps in OTAs.  The battle will ultimately come down to Sanchez vs. Lynch.  While both guys have their warts, throwing to Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders could make Denver's QB a spot-start option in fantasy football.
