Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (toe, ankle) is inactive for today’s game against the Dolphins. That leaves Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber in Vegas’ backfield again. Drake played 71% of the offensive snaps last week, tallying 7 carries and 6 targets. He’s a RB2 in PPR leagues; a RB3 or flex in non-PPR.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (toe, ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. It’ll be Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber in Vegas’ backfield again. Drake played 71% of the offensive snaps last week but was out-carried 13 to 7 by Barber. Drake racked up 6 targets, though, and is a borderline RB2 for Week 3.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (toe, ankle) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. HC Jon Gruden already called Jacobs "very questionable" for this weekend's game against the Dolphins, so fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on him. With Jacobs out last week, RB Kenyan Drake garnered 7 carries and 6 targets vs. Peyton Barber's 13 carries and 0 targets.

Raiders HC Jon Gruden said Monday that RB Josh Jacobs is "very questionable" for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Jacobs missed Week 2 with toe and ankle injuries, and his coach doesn't sound optimistic or Week 3, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. That would leave the Vegas backfield to Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber once again. Drake dominated the playing time at Pittsburgh, 71% to 29%, but each RB drew 13 opportunities. We'd still bet on Drake over Barber in Week 3 if you're making that decision. And we'll certainly be watching Jacobs' status this week.

When asked Friday whether RB Josh Jacobs' absence means a bigger opportunity for RB Kenyan Drake, Raiders HC Jon Gruden instead talked up RB Peyton Barber. "It's an opportunity for Peyton Barber," Gruden said, evidently seriously. "We think he's a heck of a back coming from Tampa. I've had a chance to really get behind the scenes on him. I like the way he runs and catches and picks up blitzes. Kenyan will continue to play a role in our system no matter who the other back is. We're excited about this opportunity to see what we have." We'd be very surprised if Barber out-carried Drake in Pittsburgh on Sunday -- especially consider Vegas just gave Drake a 2-year, $11 million deal in free agency. But it at least sounds like we shouldn't expect Drake to step into a true every-down role.

The Raiders have ruled RB Josh Jacobs out for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh. Jacobs is dealing with toe and ankle injuries, with the toe a holdover from Week 1. His absence makes Kenyan Drake a solid fantasy option against a Steelers defense that allowed 72 rushing yards to Devin Singletary on just 11 carries in the opener. Peyton Barber will be Vegas' #2 RB on Sunday.

The Raiders signed RB Peyton Barber. The Washington castoff is a replacement-level back and will be 3rd on the depth chart in Vegas behind Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake. You can continue to ignore Barber in fantasy drafts.

Washington has released RB Peyton Barber. He remained a thorn in RB Antonio Gibson's side throughout the 2nd half of last season and even stole some 1st-team, short-yardage work this preseason. So his departure is a slight bump for Gibson. Rookie Jaret Patterson looks like Washington's #3 RB behind Gibson and J.D. McKissic.

Washington RB Antonio Gibson (toe) is inactive for today’s game against the Seahawks. He returned to practice on Friday and seemingly has a shot to play next week. J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber will continue handling backfield duties today.

Washington RB Antonio Gibson (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the 49ers. He might be looking at a multi-game absence with his turf toe. Peyton Barber figures to lead Washington’s backfield in carries this weekend but would be a desperation fantasy play. J.D. McKissic will dominate the passing-down work and also mix in for some rushing work.

Washington RB Antonio Gibson's status for Sunday's game is "in doubt" due to a "painful case of turf toe," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Gibson will be evaluated throughout the week, but fantasy owners shouldn't bank on having him in Week 14 lineups. His absence would leave the backfield to Peyton Barber and J.D. McKissic.

Washington has released RB Adrian Peterson. It’s a surprising move after the future Hall-of-Famer ran with the 1st-team offense all summer. Running alongside Peterson with the starters was rookie Antonio Gibson, who now looks like the clear favorite to lead Washington’s RBs in touches this season. Peterson’s release also makes RB Bryce Love a more intriguing late-round fantasy pick. Check out the updated projections for Washington's backfield.

Police arrested RB Derrius Guice on Friday afternoon on domestic violence-related charges. According to The Washington Post, Guice faces 1 count of strangulation (a felony), 3 counts of assault and battery and 1 count of destruction of property. Washington swiftly announced that it had released Guice. Unless these charges somehow prove to be baseless, don't expect Guice to be on a roster for the coming NFL season. Adrian Peterson now looks like the lead ball-carrier for Washington, with Antonio Gibson, Bryce Love, Peyton Barber as his current competition. We'll see if the team adds a free agent (*cough* Devonta Freeman *cough*).

Washington has reached a 2-year deal with RB Peyton Barber. It's a somewhat strange signing given that Washington already has Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson under contract. We wouldn't bet on much fantasy relevance for Barber, barring injuries to others.

Bucs HC Bruce Arians said Monday that RB Ronald Jones has earned the right to start going forward. The 2nd-year back played on a season-high 53% of Tampa's offensive snaps in yesterday's loss to the Seahawks, taking 18 carries for 67 yards and a score. RB Peyton Barber carried just 4 times. It's looked like Jones was emerging as the Bucs' lead back at other times this season, but this is the 1st time we've heard it straight from Arians. That makes Jones easier to trust in Week 10 fantasy lineups in a nice matchup against the Cardinals.

Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones returned to practice Friday, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine. That bodes well for the knee he hyperextended in the 2nd preseason game. Laine also reported, however, that Jones has "had some busts" in blitz pickups and still needs route-running work. Jones has followed a mildly buzzy spring with a lackluster summer and seems set as the #2 guy in the backfield. He also could face a challenge from Dare Ogunbowale, who has generated his own slight buzz lately -- including positive reviews of his receiving skills. Overall, this looks like a backfield to try to avoid for fantasy football.

Bucs RB Ronald Jones missed time early this week with swelling in his knee. But he practiced the past 2 days and is expected to play in Friday night's preseason game against the Browns, according to insider Greg Auman. Jones and RB Peyton Barber have split 1st-team snaps and touches almost right down the middle across the first 2 exhibitions.

Through 2 preseason games, Bucs RBs Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones have split 1st-team work almost directly down the middle. Barber has tallied 5 carries and 1 target vs. Jones' 4 carries and 1 target. This looks like a committee backfield to open the season, leaving both RBs as uninspiring fantasy options.
