Raiders WR Rod Streater sustained a concussion in Friday night's preseason game against the Bears.  He has a couple weeks now to get cleared in time for the season opener.  A healthy Streater is locked into Oakland's starting lineup.  He has a chance to lead the team in catches, but it's tough to get excited about any part of this Raiders offense right now.  It's looked like a JV squad through 3 preseason games.

Denarius Moore is widely regarded as Oakland's #1 WR.  He's coming off the board in the 10th round of fantasy drafts.  But insider Jerry McDonald believes Rod Streater is emerging as the team's "go-to receiver."  He was impressive down the stretch last year, totaling 18 grabs, 351 yards and a score in his final 5 outings.  He's reportedly been the most consistent WR early in training camp.  At 6'3 and 200 pounds, Streater is a possession-type receiver.  That figures to make him a better fit than Moore with weak-armed QB Matt Flynn.  Moore is a speedy, vertical threat who may struggle with Flynn at the helm.  Streater is basically being ignored in fantasy drafts, with an ADP outside the first 16 rounds.  We already highlighted him as a sleeper in PPR fantasy leagues.

Raiders WR Rod Streater turned in an impressive rookie campaign, hauling in 39 balls for 584 yards and 3 TDs.  He was particularly productive down the stretch, with 18 grabs, 351 yards and a score in his final 5 outings.  Streater was 28th among WRs in fantasy scoring over that span.  “I want to see him start where he left off, but I want to see continued improvement,” HC Dennis Allen said of the former undrafted free agent. “I think the guy's got talent. I think he's a good route-runner. I think he's got good ball skills. I think he'll go up and attack the ball. I think he's a tough kid. I think he believes in a lot of the things I'm looking for in a football player.”  With Darrius Heyward-Bey gone, Streater is the favorite to start alongside Denarius Moore in 2013.  He's on our early list of 2013 fantasy football sleepers.

Raiders insider Steve Corkran expects WR Darrius Heyward-Bey to be cut this offseason unless he agrees to a restructured contract  DHB is due a prohibitive $7.7 million in 2013 -- far too much for a guy who has struggled to become a consistent weapon through 4 NFL seasons.  The former 7th overall pick has yet to record a 1,000-yard season.  And he's totaled just 11 TDs.  Oakland might be better off moving forward with Denarius Moore, Juron Criner, and Rod Streater as their top 3 WRs.

Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (concussion) is listed as questionable but won't play against the Broncos on Sunday.  He didn't practice all week and still hasn't been medically-cleared.  Denarius Moore will serve as Oakland's #1 WR, while Derek Hagan is expected to start on the other side of the field.  WR Rod Streater (neck) is questionable for Week 4.  Moore is the only fantasy option here.

Raiders QB Carson Palmer loves what he's seeing from WR Rod Streater.  "He's a player," Palmer said. "He didn't come in like he's an undrafted rookie; he doesn't play like he's a rookie. He's special. He's special. And that's pretty obvious. He just wants to get better but there's nothing scared about the way he plays or about the way he prepares. Just a ton of upside and I can't wait to keep working with him."  Through 3 weeks of preseason action, Streater sits 2nd in the league with 18 receptions and 6th with 165 yards.  Of course, that doesn't always translate to regular-season success, but we liked what we've seen from Streater.  He runs right routes and has reliable hands.  He was targeted 7 times with the 1st-team offense in the 3rd exhibition.  And with WRs Denarius Moore (hamstring) and Jacoby Ford (foot) banged-up, Steater figures to play a significant early-season role.  He could keep it if he keeps playing like he has this preseason.  The rookie is definitely on our radar as a late-round flier.

With WRs Denarius Moore (hamstring) and Jacoby Ford (foot) sidelined, Raiders WR Rod Streater started Saturday night's preseason game against the Lions.  The rookie led the 1st-team offense with 7 targets, 5 catches, and 56 receiving yards.  He's now up to 18 catches and 165 yards this preseason.  With Moore and Ford both looking iffy for Week 1, Streater could play a significant role right off the bat.  And he's done enough in August to threaten Ford's job as #3 WR.  Moore's starting spot should be safe for now.  Still, Streater is an intriguing late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

With WRs Denarius Moore (hamstring) and Jacoby Ford (foot) both still out, Raiders WR Rod Streater will start against the Lions on Saturday.  The rookie has been impressive through 2 exhibition games, hauling in 13 balls for 109 yards.  He's clearly ahead of fellow rookie Juron Criner for the 4th spot on the depth chart.  And if Moore and Ford's injuries continue to linger, Streater could be a fantasy factor.  There's no timetable for either Moore or Ford's return, although the former is reportedly closer.  Streater is looking like a viable late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

Raiders HC Dennis Allen was impressed by undrafted rookie WR Rod Streater in the team's first preseason game.  Streater hauled in 6 balls for 66 yards, although it came against Dallas' 2nd and 3rd-team defenses. "I thought he did a nice job,” Allen said. “He executed like he’s been executing all of camp, caught the ball well, was able to get up the field and not a lot of wasted movement."  Streater looks like the favorite for Oakland's #4 WR job right now.  That's intriguing because of Denarius Moore's ongoing hamstring problems.  Streater is worth monitoring -- and maybe worth a gamble in deep fantasy leagues.
