Panthers WR Steve Smith (knee) and Jonathan Stewart (knee) were on the practice field on Wednesday.  Barring a setback, both guys should be available for this weekend's game against the 49ers.  Smith will step back in as Carolina's top target in the passing game, while Stewart figures to serve only as a change-up behind DeAngelo Williams.

Panthers WR Steve Smith (knee) has resumed running and cutting.  He plans to practice on Wednesday and play against the 49ers on Sunday.  That will depend on how Smith's knee responds to practice this week.  He sprained his PCL 15 days ago.

Panthers WR Steve Smith (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons.  He never had a chance to play a week after spraining his PCL.  Smith would probably be stretched to be ready if Carolina plays next week.  He'd have a much better chance of being cleared in time for the Divisional Round.  Brandon LaFell and Ted Ginn will serve as Carolina's top 2 WRs in the regular-season finale.

Panthers WR Steve Smith has been diagnosed with a sprained PCL.  HC Ron Rivera called him "highly doubtful" for Sunday's game against the Falcons.  Sprained knees are usually multi-week injuries, so Smith is far from a lock to be ready for the start of the playoffs.  Carolina can at least earn a 1st-round bye with a win this weekend.  That win will need to come with Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn and Domenik Hixon as the top 3 WRs.

Panthers WR Steve Smith admitted that he heard a "pop" when he injured his knee in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game against the Saints.  He tried to return on Carolina's next possession but limped off after 1 play and did not return.  “When I went back out there and tried to go, I couldn’t,” Smith said. “So the severity and the seriousness of it just kind of weighs on you a little bit."  We'll get an update on Smith's status tomorrow, but consider him doubtful for Week 17.  The Panthers would be luck to get him back for the playoffs.

Panthers WR Steve Smith injured his left knee in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game.  It was a non-contact injury, which usually doesn't bode well.  We'll pass along an update when we get one.

Update: Smith attempted to return on Carolina's next possession but limped off the field after 1 play.

Panthers WR Steve Smith will play against the Saints today with 6 stitches and a "special glove" on his left hand.  He injured the middle finger on that hand in practice this week.  Smith has been a low-upside WR3 all season. This adds risk to his Week 16 profile.

The forecast for today's Saints-Panthers game calls for winds of 15-17 mph with rain starting at 2 pm local time.  That makes a tough matchup for QB Drew Brees even tougher.  According to Yahoo.com's split stats, Brees has averaged 279 passing yards with 48 total TDs and 24 INTs in 24 career "windy" games.  (It's unclear what qualifies as "windy.")  The weather conditions should benefit the Panthers, who figure to go with a run-heavy attack.

Panthers WR Steve Smith suffered a dislocated left middle finger in practice this week.  He’ll play against the Saints on Sunday, and the injury shouldn’t be a major factor.  Smith remains a low-end WR3.

Bucs CB Darrelle Revis (groin) will play against the Panthers today, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.  Revis was unable to return to last week's game and only got in a limited practice on Friday this week, so it's tough to believe he'll be at 100%.  We're not moving Panthers WR Steve Smith down our Week 13 rankings.

As expected, Panthers WR Steve Smith is active against the Bucs tonight.  He joined the injury report Wednesday after a limited workout but appears to be at full strength.

The Panthers added WR Steve Smith to the injury report Wednesday after he put in a limited practice.  Smith's listed as probable for Thursday night's Bucs matchup with an ankle injury.  We fully expect him to play.  Check out our Week 8 WR rankings to see where the Carolina vet sits.

Panthers WR Steve Smith turned 34 a few weeks ago.  But you wouldn't know it from watching him practice.  Smith has reportedly been laying out for balls at OTAs.  "He only knows one speed and that's full go," HC Ron Rivera said.  Smith says he plans on playing another 3-4 seasons.  "Physically I feel great right now," he said.  Smith battled some knee problems last year, but he played all 16 games.  And his 16.1 yards-per-catch average was the 3rd-best mark of his career.  A decline can't be too far away, but we haven't noticed any signs yet.  Smith looks capable of another WR2-caliber season for your fantasy squad.

Panthers WR Brandon LaFell (concussion) was unable to practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Redskins. WR Louis Murphy will start in his place and is a viable fantasy flier against the league's 32nd-ranked WR defense. Steve Smith figures to dominate targets though.

Panthers WR Steve Smith (knee) is active for tonight’s showdown with the Giants. As expected. He remains a fine WR1 against New York’s underwhelming secondary.

Panthers WR Steve Smith (knee) is listed as probable for Thursday night's game against the Giants.  He put in a full practice on Wednesday and is a strong Week 3 fantasy play.  New York's secondary has really struggled thus far.

Panthers WR Steve Smith (knee) was limited in practice for the 3rd straight day on Friday.  He's listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Saints, but HC Ron Rivera confirmed that Smith is expected to play.  It's safe to assume he won't be at 100%, but we still like Smith as a WR2 in what should be a high-scoring affair.
