Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bills. His absence leaves T.J. Jones and Andy Jones behind Kenny Golladay on the depth chart. Detroit’s offense is a mess.

Lions WR Marvin Jones (knee) didn’t practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game against the Panthers. He’s going for a 2nd opinion on that injured knee, which usually isn’t a good sign. Jones’ absence leaves T.J. Jones, Brandon Powell and Bruce Ellington behind Kenny Golladay on the WR depth chart. Golladay should dominate targets this weekend. And RB Theo Riddick figures to play a big role in the passing game.

The Eagles have acquired WR Golden Tate from the Lions in exchange for a 3rd-round pick. Tate figures to keep his slot role in Philly, pushing Nelson Agholor to the outside. He's unlikely to match the 9.9 targets per game he's averaged in Detroit so far this season, though, with Agholor, Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz to contend with. Tate looks like more of a WR3 with big-game potential the rest of the way. His arrival is a nice boost for QB Carson Wentz. Meanwhile in Detroit, both Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay are in for big volume boosts. T.J. Jones is the favorite to step into the #3 WR role but is a long shot to be a fantasy factor.

Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter said that Kenny Golladay and T.J. Jones will share #3 WR duties in Sunday's opener against the Cardinals. That obviously makes Golladay hands-off in Week 1 fantasy lineups. We'll see if he can grow his role throughout the season.

Lions WR T.J. Jones has continued to work as the team's #3 WR lately and played ahead of rookie WR Kenny Golladay on Saturday against the Jets. Golladay played just 4 of Detroit's 19 first-team snaps in the game, all coming on the 2nd drive -- after Jones had opened as the 3rd receiver. Jones also left the game in the 2nd quarter with a hamstring injury. According to mLive.com, the team apparently doesn't "seem too worried about it." But we'll see if the situation can help turn Golladay's momentum into a depth-chart promotion. Jones has had trouble staying healthy over his 2 pro seasons, appearing in just 13 games.

Lions WR Golden Tate will open training camp on the PUP, but you shouldn't worry much.  Tate told the Detroit Free Press that he suffered a minor shoulder injury during an "errant fall" in OTAs.  "Just a little soreness in my shoulder and I'm just doing what the doctors tell me to do and I'm trying to get better as fast as I can," Tate said at the time in May.  We're guessing he'll take the field soon, as the team can activate a player from the camp PUP at any time.  If Tate sits out more than a week of practices -- after skipping June OTAs -- we might start to get concerned.  Rookie WR T.J. Jones will also start camp on the PUP after getting his right shoulder scoped in June to fix a college injury.  He says his shoulder is "as healthy as can be."  We'll see what doctors say.  Jones could factor into the #3 WR battle if healthy.
