Ravens HC John Harbaugh said after Sunday's win at Pittsburgh that S Tony Jefferson suffered a season-ending ACL tear "and probably more" in his left knee. We'll see about his status heading into 2020. Anthony Levine looks like the next guy up for 2019.

Ravens S Tony Jefferson (ankle) is active for today's upside matchup with the Buccaneers. He's OK for normal IDP usage. Jefferson put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after missing the past 2 games.

Ravens S Tony Jefferson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He put in limited practices Thursday and Friday, his 1st workouts since suffering the injury in Week 12. We'll check Jefferson's status Sunday morning, ahead of the upside matchup.

The Ravens have ruled S Tony Jefferson out for Sunday's game against the Falcons with an ankle injury.

Ravens S Tony Jefferson is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals with a thigh injury. After sitting out Wednesday's practice, Jefferson returned for a limited Thursday workout and then returned to full participation Friday. We'd bet on him playing but will confirm his status Sunday morning.

Ravens ILB C.J. Mosley (thigh) is active for today's game against the Steelers. Get him into IDP lineups for a matchup that has produced big IDP numbers over the past 3 meetings. S Tony Jefferson (hamstring) is also active but a much lesser IDP option.

Ravens S Tony Jefferson (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers. He sat out the week's 1st 2 practices before returning to a limited Friday workout. We'll check Jefferson's status Sunday morning.

S Tony Jefferson signed a 4-year deal with the Ravens on Thursday, according to multiple reports. The agreement averages a reported $9 million a year, which is obviously full-time starter money. Starting next to Eric Weddle could mean some in-the-box time for Jefferson, though he's not in special spot for IDP value based on recent seasons. Expect Jefferson to land in DB2 territory in our 2017 IDP rankings.

It appears the Cardinals are ready to let DB Tyrann Mathieu jump back into the starting lineup Sunday night against the Patriots. Mathieu didn't even appear on Wednesday's injury report despite spending nearly all of the offseason and camp on the sideline. "I expect him to be out there full speed, ready to roll (against the Patriots)," coach Bruce Arians told the team website last week. Arians reiterated that stance over the weekend, telling azcardinals.com's Darren Urban that he expects Mathieu to be available for "every single play." We'll see just how strong Mathieu looks in his 1st action since last December's ACL tear, but it looks like less of a risk to use him in your IDP lineup than we'd have guessed.

Cardinals DB Tyrann Mathieu practiced Sunday for the 1st time since tearing his right ACL in December. According to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss, HC Bruce Arians had planned to have Mahtieu, CB Justin Bethel and DE Frostee Rucker participate only in positional drills. But Mathieu said he decided to push it by also taking part in 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s. Mathieu said he was "real surprised" with what he was able to do. "I didn't feel any pain. I didn't really get tight at all," Mathieu said. "I was surprised with where I was at, but I was also pleased with what I've been doing." Mathieu said he thinks he can be ready for Week 1. We'll see how things go over the next couple of weeks. Mathieu's return gets in the way of S Tony Jefferson's fill-in work, though Mathieu's split duty between FS and slot CB could leave room for Jefferson to be an early fantasy option as well.

The Cardinals released their initial depth chart Monday, which lists Tyrann Mathieu as the FS starter despite his continued PUP status. Tony Jefferson, who has been working in his place, sits 2nd on the depth chart. D.J. Swearinger, meanwhile, has fought off competition so far to hold the SS role to this point. Swearinger has flashed some IDP intrigue in the past but failed to stick in lineups or deliver consistent fantasy production. He carries some mild upside into the season but needs to prove he's worth getting excited about. Arizona safeties have proved just OK in fantasy in recent seasons.

According to multiple reports, Cardinals S Tyrann Mathieu tore his right ACL late in Sunday night's win over the Eagles. That obviously ends his season and puts him in question for the summer and regular-season start of 2016. Mathieu previously tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee, so this injury seems less severe. The fact that it's his other knee also increases the chance for a full recovery. Mathieu should remain on dynasty IDP rosters at this point. We'll track his progress heading into next year. S Tony Jefferson figures to see more playing time this year, though the Cardinals likely don't have a single player who can step into Mathieu's hybrid CB-S role.

Cardinals S Tony Jefferson (hamstring) is questionable for Thursday night's game against the Vikings. He's a low-level IDP candidate anyway in a safety rotation. Don't bother with him unless you really need to.

Cardinals S Deone Bucannon (groin) is active today against the Bears. He played full time in Week 1 and looks like a solid IDP option again this week. His presence should hurt S Tony Jefferson's playing time, making him a very iffy fantasy option.

Cardinals S Deone Bucannon is questionable for Sunday's trip to Chicago with a groin injury. He did put in a limited practice Friday, so there's hope for him being active. Bucannon's absence would likely mean more playing time for S Tony Jefferson.

The Cardinals listed FS Tyrann Mathieu and SS Tony Jefferson as starters in their initial depth chart Monday. Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com says that SS Deone Bucannon and FS Rashad Johnson "have been running with the first unit" in practice. "In the end, all four get a lot of snaps," Urban adds. Given that situation, it might not matter who actually starts. At the same time, a rotation will limit fantasy-scoring opportunities for the IDP prospects. That has suppressed all Arizona DB projections in our 2015 IDP rankings. Elsewhere on D, the Cards list OLB Lorenzo Alexander, ILB Sean Weatherspoon, ILB Kevin Minter and OLB Alex Okafor as starters. We're not excited about any as IDP factors. Weatherspoon would carry the most upside, but he needs to show that he still has his old quicks even after last June's Achilles' tendon tear.

Cardinals S Deone Bucannon was working with at the strong spot with the 1st team in spring workouts. DC James Bettcher told the team website that he has yet to decide on the starters at some positions -- including SS -- but the early nod to last year's 1st-round pick suggests he's the favorite. Bucannon proved wildly productive as a college safety and could still play some LB in nickel packages. That role would keep him in the middle of the action and can only help his tackle numbers. Unless he has a bad summer and lets Tony Jefferson pass him on the depth chart, Bucannon looks like at least a DB2 for IDP fantasy football leagues this year. Look for him to climb our 2015 IDP rankings.

The Cardinals watched 2 DBs leave Sunday's win over the Eagles with concussions. CB Patrick Peterson suffered his injury in a 1st-half collision with Jeremy Maclin. Jefferson played 75 of the 94 snaps and had his injury revealed Monday. Both will need to pass through the league protocol before returning to action. Fortunately, neither is much of an IDP factor. Jefferson's recent playing time hasn't proved consistent enough for fantasy owners to trust him. Losing him for Sunday's trip to Dallas wouldn't affect the outlook for the team D. Peterson has failed to live up to his reputation in coverage this year, but missing him would still only make Arizona a more positive passing matchup for Tony Romo and the Dallas WRs in Week 9.

Cardinals S Tony Jefferson played only 15 snaps in the Week 6 win over Washington.  HC Bruce Arians told reporters Monday that S Tyrann Mathieu has replaced him as the SS in nickel packages, with Jefferson playing the role in the base D.  Rookie S Deone Bucannon and FS Rashad Johnson also opened the game on the field and played 50 and 65 snaps, respectively.  Although the playing-time percentages figure to fluctuate depending on how the matchups dictate Arizona's defensive packages, it looks like time to dump Tony Jefferson in nearly all IDP leagues.  Teams lean toward pass-D packages these days.  Jefferson losing time there bodes ill for his participation going forward.  We wouldn't consider Mathieu an IDP starting option yet, but the fact that the team deems him well enough for a bigger role bodes well for the defense.  Mathieu's ball skills enhance the pass D and add big-play upside to the unit in fantasy.
