Panthers WR Torrey Smith (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions. WR D.J. Moore has played 70+% of the offensive snaps with Smith out the past 3 games. The rookie remains in the lower-end WR3 mix vs. a leaky Detroit pass defense.

Panthers WR Torrey Smith (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Steelers. That keeps D.J. Moore in the WR3 mix. He disappointed in the box score last week but played a season-high 86% of Carolina's offensive snaps.

Panthers WR Torrey Smith (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Bucs. That locks WR D.J. Moore into a significant role vs. the league's 30th-ranked WR defense. The rookie is a WR3 with loads of upside.

Panthers WR Torrey Smith (knee) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. His status is big for WR D.J. Moore, who played a season-high 71% of the snaps and broke out for 129 total yards last week. If Smith is out this weekend, Moore will be worth getting into fantasy lineups in a pristine matchup vs. the Bucs.

Panthers WR Torrey Smith (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Ravens. The veteran has played 69% of the offensive snaps and averaged 4.5 targets per game. WRs D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel should pick up extra playing time this weekend, but neither is a strong fantasy option in a tough matchup.

Panthers WR Torrey Smith (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. His status for this weekend's game against the Ravens is uncertain. Smith's absence would open up snaps for 1st-round rookie WR D.J. Moore.

The Eagles added CB Jalen Mills to the injury report Thursday, when a hamstring issue limited his participation. HC Doug Pederson told reporters Friday morning that he expects Mills to be fine to face Carolina on Sunday, though. That should keep Mills at his usual level of IDP consideration. His hamstring could add upside to Carolina outside WRs Devin Funchess and Torrey Smith, though.

The Panthers made Maryland’s D.J. Moore the 1st WR off the board, selecting him with the 24th overall pick. Moore checked in as the #1 WR in our pre-draft rankings. His college numbers don’t jump off the page, but consider that Maryland never ranked better than 102nd in passing yards or 92nd in passing TDs in Moore’s 3 seasons there. He finished top 2 on the team in catches, yards and TDs all 3 years. And in 2017, he accounted for a whopping 45.7% of the team’s catches, 52.3% of the yards and 53.3% of the TDs. Moore is silky smooth on tape with solid route running and after-the-catch ability. He tested as a 97th percentile athlete at the Combine. While he doesn’t have prototypical size at 6’0 and 210 pounds, Moore checks every other box. He joins a Panthers WR corps that includes Devin Funchess, Curtis Samuel, Torrey Smith and Jarius Wright. Moore should immediately challenge for a starting spot and could even challenge Funchess for the #1 WR title this year.

The Panthers have signed WR Jarius Wright. Although never a real fantasy factor in Minnesota, Wright sports a strong 66.5% career catch rate and 13.3 yards per catch. He's also familiar with OC Norv Turner's offense, having spent 3 years in it in Minnesota. Wright will battle for snaps and targets with Torrey Smith and Curtis Samuel behind Devin Funchess.

The Panthers have acquired WR Torrey Smith from the Eagles in exchange for CB Daryl Worley. Smith lasted just 1 season in Philly, posting a disappointing 36-430-2 line. (Although he also totaled 157 yards and a score in 3 postseason games.) He's theoretically a good fit in Carolina with big-armed Cam Newton and an OC in Norv Turner known for his vertical passing game. But Smith is now 29 and has posted his 2 lowest yards-per-catch averages over the past 2 seasons. We'll see where he fits into the Panthers' offense, but he probably won't be more than a late-round stab in 2018 fantasy drafts.

Eagles insider Geoff Mosher believes the team's slot job is Nelson Agholor's "to lose." The former 1st-rounder reportedly had an impressive spring filling in for WR Jordan Matthews (knee) with the 1st-team offense. "He showed reliable hands, excellent route-running and, most importantly, a newfound confidence that had been lacking in his rookie and sophomore seasons," Mosher writes. It's unclear if Agholor claiming the slot job would kick Matthews outside or out of the starting lineup altogether. (Alshon Jeffery is locked in, and the Eagles also added Torrey Smith this offseason.) We're also not yet completely buying Agholor's emergence based on pad-less spring practices. It'll certainly be a situation to watch over the next few weeks, though. Jeffery is the only reasonably safe pick in Philly's WR corps right now.

The Eagles have agreed to a 3-year, $15 million deal with WR Torrey Smith. Philly trotted out 1 of the weaker WR corps in the league last year, with no field-stretching presence. Smith will change that. He owns a career 17.0 yards-per-catch average with 25 receptions of 40+ yards across 6 seasons. Smith struggled the past 2 years in San Francisco but remains just 28 and will get much better QB play in Philadelphia. We'll see exactly how the WR depth chart shakes out with Smith, Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor and Dorial Green-Beckham.

The 49ers have released WR Torrey Smith. A big free-agent signing back in 2015, Smith mustered just 930 yards and 7 TDs in 2 seasons in San Francisco. QB play was more to blame than the limitations in Smith's game. Still just 28, he's capable of bouncing back in a more favorable situation. The 'Niners, meanwhile, are left with Jeremy Kerley, Bruce Ellington and DeAndre Smelter atop their WR depth chart. They'll add to the position in free agency and/or the draft.

49ers WR Torrey Smith (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. He’s been off the fantasy radar for a while.

49ers WR Torrey Smith left in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Jets with a concussion. We'll see how he does in the league protocol, but the veteran wideout has not been a significant fantasy option at any time this season.

Snow is expected throughout today's 49ers-Bears game, accumulating to 3-5 inches. Winds will be at just 5-7 mph, though, so we're not downgrading the passing games. Of course, both offenses figure to go run-heavy anyway.
