Saints QB Tyler Shough has been playing with two broken bones in his left hand since the Week 4 loss to Atlanta, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Shough played with the ring and pinky fingers on his left hand taped together vs. the Vikings last week and handed off with his right hand. He's expected to continue playing through the injury. Shough is coming off his worst outing of the season last week, but that was likely more due to Minnesota's defense than this non-throwing hand injury. We'll see how he fares in a much easier spot vs. the Giants today. Shough gets the Steelers in Week 7 and then a Week 8 bye.

Saints QB Tyler Shough threw for a meager 96 yards on 16-of-25 passing, with 2 INTs and no TDs Sunday against the Vikings. It marked the first time this season that Shough fell shor of 250 yards. His 25 pass attempts were also nine fewer than any other game this season.

If you watched only the first half of Sunday's Lions-Saints game, then you might have turned it off thinking New Orleans needs to find a new QB. Tyler Shough completed just 10 of his 22 passes for 85 yards, 0 TDs, and an INT over that span, earning an ugly 37.1 passer rating. But the second-half version belongs in the Pro Bowl (at least back when it existed). Shough racked up 325 yards and 3 TDs -- plus an INT -- on 25-of-34 passing while leading his team back for a narrow OT defeat. Second-half Shough earned a 120.3 passer rating while distributing scoring passes to WR DeVaughn Vele, TE Juwan Johnson, and TE Noah Fant.

The New Orleans Saints selected Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson with the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The lone red flag on Tyson’s profile is durability. He missed roughly 34% of his college career with a multi-ligament knee injury, a broken collarbone, hamstring issues, and a Lisfranc injury. That history presents downside risk, but Tyson looked like a potential No. 1 WR when healthy. He peaked as a junior, posting a huge 75-1,101-10 line. Playing under WRs coach (and former Steelers WR) Hines Ward, Tyson posted a strong 3.04 yards per route run while seeing a near-even mix of usage inside and out. He brings NFL size at 6’2, 203 pounds, wins with sharp route running, and creates separation at all levels. Tyson’s physical tools give him a chance to be the best WR in this class.

ESPN's Field Yates is reporting that the New Orleans Saints held a private workout with Georgia WR Zachariah Branch. Per the report, the workout included "some punt return work" for Branch, who is regarded as one of the top returners in the 2026 NFL Draft.

"The New Orleans Saints are preparing to move ahead with Tyler Shough as their starting quarterback in 2026," writes ESPN's Katherine Terrell. Shough started the Saints' final nine games as a second-round rookie, going 5-4 while averaging 250.7 passing yards, 1.1 TDs, and 0.6 INTs per contest.

Saints WR Chris Olave will miss Sunday's game vs. the Falcons after a blood clot was detected in his lung, New Orleans Football's Nick Underhill reports. The issue was caught early, per Underhill, and Olave is being discharged from the hospital today. It doesn't sound like there will be any long-term impacts here. But the Saints lose the engine of the passing game for Week 18. Olave's absence leaves the WR corps to Kevin Austin, Mason Tipton, and Dante Pettis, among others. TE Juwan Johnson might be the team's best target bet. QB Tyler Shough is a much less attractive fantasy play sans Olave.

Update: Olave is expected to be sidelined for about a month, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Barring a setback, this shouldn't have too big an impact on his offseason.

He supported the Saints’ top two receiving weapons in WR Chris Olave (5-104-1) and TE Juwan Johnson (4-92-1). Despite the strong showing, the Saints' offense only scored 17 points.

The Saints have spent the past three weeks supplying their three lowest yardage totals for the season and two of their three lowest scores (the past two weeks). Sunday's loss to the Rams -- rookie QB Tyler Shough's first start -- also found the team setting new lows in total offensive snaps and time of possession ... by wide margins.

The Saints have announced that they'll be starting QB Tyler Shough this Sunday against the Rams. The move comes as no real surprise after New Orleans benched Spencer Rattler in the third quarter of the Week 8 loss to Tampa Bay.
