Saints Get Jordyn Tyson to Support Second-Year QB Tyler Shough

The New Orleans Saints selected Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson with the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The lone red flag on Tyson’s profile is durability. He missed roughly 34% of his college career with a multi-ligament knee injury, a broken collarbone, hamstring issues, and a Lisfranc injury. That history presents downside risk, but Tyson looked like a potential No. 1 WR when healthy. He peaked as a junior, posting a huge 75-1,101-10 line. Playing under WRs coach (and former Steelers WR) Hines Ward, Tyson posted a strong 3.04 yards per route run while seeing a near-even mix of usage inside and out. He brings NFL size at 6’2, 203 pounds, wins with sharp route running, and creates separation at all levels. Tyson’s physical tools give him a chance to be the best WR in this class.

Looks Like You Can Draft Tyler Shough in Best Ball

"The New Orleans Saints are preparing to move ahead with Tyler Shough as their starting quarterback in 2026," writes ESPN's Katherine Terrell. Shough started the Saints' final nine games as a second-round rookie, going 5-4 while averaging 250.7 passing yards, 1.1 TDs, and 0.6 INTs per contest.

Chris Olave Out For Week 18 With Blood Clot

Saints WR Chris Olave will miss Sunday's game vs. the Falcons after a blood clot was detected in his lung, New Orleans Football's Nick Underhill reports. The issue was caught early, per Underhill, and Olave is being discharged from the hospital today. It doesn't sound like there will be any long-term impacts here. But the Saints lose the engine of the passing game for Week 18. Olave's absence leaves the WR corps to Kevin Austin, Mason Tipton, and Dante Pettis, among others. TE Juwan Johnson might be the team's best target bet. QB Tyler Shough is a much less attractive fantasy play sans Olave.

Update: Olave is expected to be sidelined for about a month, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Barring a setback, this shouldn't have too big an impact on his offseason.

Play Volume Craters in Tyler Shough's First Start

The Saints have spent the past three weeks supplying their three lowest yardage totals for the season and two of their three lowest scores (the past two weeks). Sunday's loss to the Rams -- rookie QB Tyler Shough's first start -- also found the team setting new lows in total offensive snaps and time of possession ... by wide margins.

Tyler Shough Replaces Spencer Rattler But Looks Just As Lost

QB Spencer Rattler was benched Rookie QB Tyler Shough in the third quarter after two turnovers. Rattler had turned the ball over six times in seven quarters and finally was sent to the sideline. Unfortunately, Shough did not fair much better, throwing an interception himself. This likely sets up Shough to be the starter for the rest of the season so the Saints can see what they have in the rookie.

Spencer Rattler Benched For Tyler Shough

Saints QB Spencer Rattler was pulled in the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Buccaneers. He wasn't awful, completing 15 of 21 passes for 136 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT. But he produced just three points. And it's about time for the Saints to get a look at second-round rookie QB Tyler Shough. We'll see how Shough fares in the rest of this game, but don't be surprised if he gets the nod in Week 9 against the Rams. Of course, this situation is only relevant in 2-QB and superflex leagues.

Saints QB Competition Has Volatile Frontrunner

Saints QB Spencer Rattler appears to be leading the battle despite some up-and-down play in training camp so far, according to WWL Radio's Jeff Nowak. He ran with the first team today. His competition, rookie Tyler Shough, has been fairly risk-averse over the first few days. Jake Haener is also in the mix. The situation remains unresolved.

Derek Carr Retiring; Tyler Shough Time?

Saints QB Derek Carr has announced he'll retire. We already knew there was a chance he'd miss some or all of the coming season because of an injury to his right shoulder. But this news obviously heightens the importance of rookie QB Tyler Shough's quick development and/or another plan for a "bridge" starter.
