The Buccaneers on Tuesday waived starting CB Vernon Hargreaves. Tampa Bay drafted Hargreaves 11th overall in 2016, but he has never lived up to that status. Hargreaves leaves the Bucs with 2 career INTs through 3.5 seasons, though he did lose nearly all of 2018 to injury. Bucs coaches yanked the veteran from Sunday's win over the Cardinals for lack of effort. Jamel Dean stepped in for Hargreaves in that game, but Carlton Davis should rejoin the lineup across from rookie Sean Murphy-Bunting when he returns from a hip injury.
After trading back 2 spots, the Buccaneers obviously got the player they favored in CB Vernon Hargreaves with the 11th pick in the NFL Draft. Hargreaves should have a good shot to start right away for a Bucs D that proved unsettled at the position all last year. Hargreaves grabbed a solid 10 INTs over his 3 college seasons.
