Giants WR Victor Cruz avoided the active/PUP list and is expected to be on the field for the team's 1st training camp practice on Friday, per insider Art Stapleton. That's a good start for Cruz, who is battling back from serious patellar tendon and calf injuries. Of course, he was ready for the start of camp last year and then missed the entire season. We'll be keeping a close eye on him this time around but aren't betting on a fantasy impact.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee, calf) says he'll be "ready to go" for the start of training camp this week. “I’ll see what’s up when I meet with the trainers and I step foot in that facility on the first day," he added. "But my expectation is to be ready to rock and roll.” Cruz, of course, was "ready to go" this time last year but then suffered what turned out to be a season-ending calf injury early in camp. He's nearly 30 now and no lock to ever rediscover pre-injury form. We'll keep an eye on him over the next month, but he's still just a late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

Giants WR Victor Cruz took part in individual drills on Tuesday for the 1st time this offseason, according to insider Ralph Vacchiano.  Cruz ran routes with the rest of the WRs, took 1 snap in a team drill and then headed to the sideline.  It's another step in the right direction, but he still has a ways to go.  Cruz remains just a late-round flier that we're not particularly interested in.

The Giants are hoping to get WR Victor Cruz ready for the start of training camp.  "That's the goal," HC Ben McAdoo said. "Small steps."  Cruz is jogging off to the side of practice this week.  He's declared himself 100%, but the team is obviously being extra cautious with him.  Cruz hasn't played since Week 6 of 2014 due to a torn patellar tendon and a torn calf muscle.  The Giants are "viewing a possible Cruz return as an unexpected bonus," per ESPN's Dan Graziano.  Fantasy owners should be treating Cruz the same way.

The Giants will give rookie WR Sterling Shepard "every opportunity" to win the #2 job behind Odell Beckham, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano. Some knock Shepard for being undersized, but he stands just 1 inch shorter and 4 pounds lighter than Beckham. More importantly, his primary competition will come from Victor Cruz. The veteran missed all of last season with a calf injury that arose after a torn patellar tendon ended Cruz's 2014 campaign. The team would probably like to lighten the vet's load in 2016. We'll see how this plays out and where the rookie lands in our rankings, but Shepard figures to carry plenty of fantasy football upside in a top-10 passing offense this season.

Giants WR Victor Cruz declared himself 100% healthy.  "I feel good. No injuries, no ailments, nothing hurts, no pain," he said.  "I'm feeling great. Workouts have been going amazing. Each day, it gets better and better."  Cruz hasn't played since tearing his patellar tendon in October 2014.  He dealt with a rare and nagging calf injury last year that eventually required surgery.  Turning 30 in November, Cruz remains a question mark for both the Giants and fantasy owners.

Giants WR Victor Cruz has agreed to take a pay cut to remain with the team.  He'll make a base salary of $1.3 million -- down from $7.9 million -- and have a chance to earn another $5.5 million based on playing-time incentives.  The deal makes sense for both sides.  The G-Men have a big need at WR behind Odell Beckham.  But Cruz turns 30 in November and missed the entire 2015 season due to a ruptured patellar tendon and "very rare" calf injury.  He's a total question mark for both the Giants and fantasy owners.

It was a torn fascia in his calf that cost Giants WR Victor Cruz the 2015 season, according to insider Jordan Raanan.  We've never heard of the injury, and Raanan called it "very rare."  Cruz admitted during the year that the calf issue was a result of overcompensating for the torn patellar tendon in his knee that he suffered in 2014.  He's expected to make a full recovery from the torn fascia, per Raanan, but Cruz's fantasy outlook remains murky.  He turns 30 in November and hasn't played a football game since October 2014.

Giants WR Victor Cruz announced Monday that he'll have season-ending calf surgery. The veteran originally hurt his left calf back on Aug. 17 and hasn't seen any game action since then. That, of course, follows the torn patellar tendon that ended his 2014 season. We'll see how Cruz looks heading into next offseason and what role he might hope to find in a Giants offense that could lose WR Rueben Randle via free agency in the spring.

Giants WR Victor Cruz said "after the bye looks like a promising date" for his return, according to insider Ralph Vacchiano.  That'd be Week 12.  Cruz has been close to a return a couple of times this year only to suffer a setback.  We'll believe he's ready to play when we see him on the field.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) is still not cleared to practice, HC Tom Coughlin announced on Thursday.  Cruz had an MRI on Wednesday, which evidently showed that his calf still isn't healed.  There's no reason to roster Cruz in fantasy right now.  We wouldn't bet on seeing him before the Giants' Week 11 bye.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) is out for Sunday night’s game against the 49ers. He’s yet to return to practice and has no timeline for return. Rueben Randle will continue to serve as New York’s #2 WR with Dwayne Harris as the #3.

Giants WR Victor Cruz had a platelet rich plasma procedure on his injured calf this week, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.  Cruz suffered a setback with the troublesome calf in Wednesday's practice.  The PRP shot is meant to speed up the recovery process.  Cruz should still be considered week-to-week.

Giants HC Tom Coughlin ruled WR Victor Cruz (calf) out for this weekend's game against the Bills.  He suffered a setback in his return to practice on Wednesday and should be considered week-to-week again.  It leaves Reuben Randle as New York's clear-cut #2 WR, but he's a shaky fantasy play in Buffalo this week.

Giants WR Victor Cruz tried to participate in individual drills on Wednesday.  It didn't go well.  "Victor came out and tried to do individuals. He felt the calf again and that's all he did," HC Tom Coughlin said afterward.  It now looks like Cruz won't make his debut this weekend against the Bills.  That'll mean another game for Rueben Randle as the clear #2 WR.  We're still not ready to trust him in fantasy lineups, despite last week's big outing.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) declared himself 100% healthy on Monday.  We'll see.  He tore his patellar tendon last year, 1 of the toughest injuries to return from, and dealt with a bum calf for the past month.  We're not expecting him to return to pre-injury form this season.  Cruz is worth a "wait-and-see" stash.  Just don't count on him to save your fantasy season.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) is hoping to make his 2015 debut in Week 4.  “I’m confident I’ll be ready to go by (Week 4, Oct. 4 in Buffalo),” he said.  "But it’s all a matter of what the training staff thinks and what the doctors say.”  Cruz has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons, and he won't be ready in time for this coming Thursday night's meeting with the Redskins.  Even if Cruz is ready for Week 4, we'll need to see a couple of productive games from him before trusting him in fantasy lineups.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) is out for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. He’s yet to return to practice and has no timetable for return. Rueben Randle and Preston Parker will serve as New York’s #2 and #3 WRs, but neither guy is a reliable fantasy play.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) remained sidelined on Wednesday.  There's nothing to suggest that he'll be ready for this weekend's game against the Falcons.  WRs Rueben Randle and Preston Parker both struggled with Cruz out in the opener.

Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday night's game against the Cowboys.  He didn't practice at all this week and doesn't appear particularly close to a return.  Rueben Randle will be the clear-cut #2 WR this weekend and is an interesting DFS option in what should be a shootout.
