Chargers TE Virgil Green (quad) is out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. With TE Hunter Henry (knee) also out, L.A. is down to TEs Sean Culkin and Lance Kendricks. We only mention this because of the matchup vs. Miami. Culkin and Kendricks would be desperation fantasy plays.

The Chargers announced that TE Hunter Henry suffered a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee in Sunday's win over the Colts. For what it's worth, this is the opposite knee in which he tore his ACL last spring. Henry will "continue to be evaluated" and a timetable for his return "has not yet been determined," per the team's statement. There are 3 instances of a tibia plateau fracture in Sports Injury Predictor's database. Those guys (Nate Burleson, Anthony Hitchens and Daniel Sorensen) missed anywhere from 1 to 3 months. We should learn more about Henry's status over the next few days, but fantasy owners obviously need to plan to be without him for a while. Virgil Green is currently the Chargers' backup TE. (We'll see if they try to bring Antonio Gates back.) Henry's absence will push even more targets to WR Keenan Allen and RB Austin Ekeler.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers are expecting Henry to miss 4-6 weeks.

The Chargers have agreed to a deal with veteran TE Antonio Gates, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The move doesn't come as a surprise. Rumors of such have been swirling at least since Hunter Henry suffered his ACL tear. Gates joins a TE group that sported just 1 player with NFL catches (Virgil Green: 71 across 7 seasons). Gates should continue to be a red-zone option for QB Philip Rivers, as he has always been. But we saw a sharp decline in yardage efficiency from Gates over the past few years. He's worth a look in redraft leagues -- and worth rostering in TE premium. But don't overrate the name value. The Chargers now boast an attractive trio of red-zone options at WR.

Chargers TE Hunter Henry suffered a torn ACL in Tuesday's OTA session, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "Did it during a drill, running downfield, untouched," Schefter tweeted. Freed from Antonio Gates' shadow, Henry was a prime breakout candidate entering his 3rd NFL season. He'll now miss the entire 2018 campaign. With Virgil Green now sitting atop the depth chart, the Chargers might consider bringing Gates back. The loss of Henry dings QB Philip Rivers' fantasy outlook and frees up targets for WRs Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin.

Broncos TEs A.J. Derby (shoulder) and Jeff Heuerman (knee) are out for this weekend’s game against the Bengals. TE Virgil Green will soak up snaps but remains a desperation fantasy play.

Broncos TEs A.J. Derby and Virgil Green will both miss Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with concussions. Jeff Heuerman will operate as Denver’s lead TE but isn’t a fantasy option.

Broncos TEs A.J. Derby and Virgil Green both sustained concussions in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. Jeff Heuerman will operate as Denver's lead TE this coming weekend if neither guy is cleared. But none of these guys will be a Week 16 fantasy option vs. Kansas City's tough TE defense.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) put in a full week of practice and isn't listed on the team's final injury report. He'll return for Thursday night's game against the Chargers after missing the past 3. We'd shy away from using Green in fantasy lineups in his 1st game back, although San Diego has allowed the 13th most fantasy points to TEs.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) is inactive for today’s game against the Falcons. Jeff Heuerman and John Phillips will handle TE duties for Denver, but neither can be trusted in fantasy lineups.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) was limited in practice all week and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. We’re expecting him to play but won’t find out for sure until 2:30 pm ET on Sunday. Atlanta ranks dead last in fantasy points allowed to TEs.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) returned to practice on Wednesday. That gives him a shot to play against the Falcons this weekend. Atlanta sits 23rd in Football Outsiders' TE coverage rankings and has allowed the most fantasy points to TEs.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) missed practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game against the Bucs. His injury wasn’t believed to be serious, but he’s been sidelined 2 weeks now with no timetable for return. John Phillips and Jeff Heuerman shared TE duties with Green sidelined last week. Neither is a fantasy option.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. He didn’t practice all week, so he’s not a lock to return for Week 4. TE John Phillips is expected to start in Green’s place, but TE Jeff Heuerman could handle pass-catching duties. Avoid the situation in fantasy.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) missed practice again on Thursday. HC Gary Kubiak said afterward that Green will "likely be a game-time decision." He shouldn't be in your Week 3 fantasy plans.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. His injury isn't believed to be serious, but he's certainly not a lock for Week 3. If Green is able to suit up, he'll have a nice matchup against a Bengals defense that gave up 2 TE TDs last week.

Broncos HC Gary Kubiak labeled TE Virgil Green "day-to-day" with a strained calf suffered in Sunday's win over the Colts. It sounds like he has a shot to be ready for this weekend's game against the Bengals. We'll track his status throughout the week.

Broncos TE Virgil Green hurt his calf during Sunday's win over the Colts. The injury might have happened on his 3rd and final catch later in the 4th quarter. Green was in a walking boot and limping after the game, according to the Denver Post's Nick Groke. We should get another update tomorrow.

Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman is sidelined with a hamstring injury and is "unlikely" to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, according to the Denver Post's Cameron Wolfe. Heuerman missed all of 2015 with a torn ACL and has been dealing with hamstring trouble all offseason. HC Gary Kubiak said he's still "a few days" from getting back on the field. Meanwhile, Virgil Green continues to look more and more locked in as Denver's starting TE. He's a recommended late-round target.

Andrew Mason of the Broncos' official website considers Virgil Green the "most likely" candidate to lead the team's TEs in receiving. His competition comes in the form of Jeff Heuerman and Garrett Graham. Green is certainly the best blocker of the group and is a high-end athlete. He'd present the most fantasy appeal of the group. And whoever does emerge as the lead guy will have some upside as potentially the #3 target in Gary Kubiak's TE-friendly offense.
