Rookie Devin Neal Will Miss Multiple Weeks

        6:24pm UTC 8/5/25

Saints RB Devin Neal will miss "a couple weeks" with a hamstring injury, per HC Kellen Moore. Neal, a Round 6 rookie, was in a battle for the No. 2 RB job behind Alvin Kamara. His absence raises the late-round appeal of Kendre Miller, who'll still have to beat out Clyde Edwards-Helaire and others for the handcuff role.

        Clyde Edwards-Helaire A Healthy Scratch

        3:05pm UTC 10/20/24

Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) is inactive for today’s game vs. the 49ers. He was off the final injury report, so Kansas City is just opting to roll with RBs Kareem Hunt, Carson Steele, and Samaje Perine.

Will Clyde Edwards-Helaire Play Week 7?

        2:51pm UTC 10/18/24

Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. It’s still unclear if he’ll make his 2024 debut vs. the 49ers on Sunday. Edwards-Helaire should not be in your fantasy plans, but his return would add a bit more risk to RB Kareem Hunt’s Week 7 outlook.

        Isiah Pacheco active vs. Ravens

        2:46pm UTC 1/28/24

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (ankle, toe) is active for today's game against the Ravens. He missed the week's first two practices before a limited Friday and "questionable" listing on the final injury report. Pacheco's gotta be somewhere south of full strength. But we're also seen no indication his role will be limited today. It's tough to downgrade him as a fantasy option on a two-game slate. Perhaps the combo of toe and ankle issues at least gives Clyde Edwards-Helaire some upside, especially if Pacheco gets knocked out of the game at any point.

Jerick McKinnon unlikely to play this postseason

        4:07pm UTC 1/10/24

Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon is unlikely to play this postseason, according to Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick. McKinnon had surgery on January 2 for a core muscle injury and a fractured pelvis, per Derrick, which is expected to sideline him at least 6-8 weeks. McKinnon's absence leaves Clyde Edwards-Helaire as Kansas City's No. 2 RB -- and Isiah Pacheco in a workhorse role.

Isiah Pacheco expected back for Week 16

        2:20pm UTC 12/18/23

The Chiefs are expecting to get RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) back for next Monday's game vs. the Raiders. "He'll be back this week," HC Andy Reid said Monday. "He'll be good to go this week, unless there's further setbacks. But right now, everything's positive for him to go." Pacheco had emerged as Kansas City's feature back before hurting his shoulder, averaging 17.0 carries and 2.8 targets over his last four games. Expect him back in a similar role in Week 16 and beyond, barring another injury. Pacheco can be penciled back into fantasy lineups, while Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon should go back to benches.

        Isiah Pacheco still out Wednesday

        3:02pm UTC 12/13/23

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) won't practice on Wednesday, HC Andy Reid said. Pacheco's shoulder injury isn't long-term, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, but it's certainly possible that Pacheco misses this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. That'd again leave the backfield to RBs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon. Those guys split snaps last week, with CEH handling 11 carries and four targets to McKinnon's four carries and three targets.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire edges Jerick McKinnon in work

        12:11am UTC 12/11/23

Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire played 2 more snaps than RB Jerick McKinnon Sunday against the Bills, with Isiah Pacheco out. The gap might have been larger if CEH hadn't needed to leave during the second half to replace his ripped pants. As it was, Edwards-Helaire carried 11 times to McKinnon's 4 and edged McKinnon 4-3 in targets (though McKinnon won 3-2 in receptions). McKinnon also scored the only RB TD for the game, on a 7-yard run in the second quarter. We'll see about Pacheco's chances to return from the shoulder injury in Week 15. If he can't, CEH and McKinnon still look like fairly equal fantasy entities.

        Isiah Pacheco controls backfield work

        7:00pm UTC 9/17/23

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco handled 12 of 14 team RB carries in Week 2. He busted off 5.5 YPC, boosted by a 31-yard scamper to open the second half. Clyde Edwards-Helaire saw only three touches after showing up on the injury report with an illness. Jerick McKinnon chipped in with only 1 carry (3 targets). Week 3 turns up an excellent scoring matchup for Pacheco, who's still searching for his first TD of this season.

Edwards-Helaire a healthy scratch for Super Bowl

        5:13pm UTC 2/12/23

Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is inactive for the Super Bowl. He wasn't listed on this week's injury report after being activated from IR, so this is a healthy scratch. Kansas City will again roll with RBs Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Ronald Jones vs. the Eagles.

        Edwards-Helaire designated to return

        4:14pm UTC 1/17/23

Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle) has been designated to return from IR and practiced on Tuesday. He's been out since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 11. We'll see if CEH is cleared to play in this weekend's Divisional Round game vs. the Jaguars, but his role was dwindling before that injury. Edwards-Helaire totaled just 10 carries and 5 targets on 38 snaps over his last 3 games.

        Pacheco breaks out vs. Chargers

        8:46am UTC 11/21/22

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco racked up 107 yards on 15 carries in Sunday night's win over the Chargers. It marked the rookie's 2nd straight game with at least 15 carries and 80+ yards. Clyde Edwards-Helaire appeared headed for a larger role than in Week 10 before an ankle injury sidelined him. RB Jerick McKinnon led the backfield in snaps but saw most of that work in the passing game. Pacheco and the Chiefs get worse rushing matchups over the next 3 games. An enticing date with the Texans awaits in Week 15, though.

        Season-high 16 carries for Pacheco

        11:30pm UTC 11/14/22

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco handled 16 of 17 team RB carries in Sunday’s win over Jacksonville. He looked spry with 3.69 YAC per attempt, per Pro Football Focus. Shockingly, backfield mate Clyde Edwards-Helaire mixed in for only 4 snaps. Jerick McKinnon handled 23 snaps and out-targeted Pacheco 8-0. The rookie is still inching closer to RB2 range given the strength of Kansas City’s offense. Week 11 turns up a matchup with a Chargers D-line that’s been destroyed by injuries.
