Marlon Mack Injury Updates

Colts HC Frank Reich said that RB Marlon Mack had surgery on his fractured hand on Monday morning. There's not yet a timetable for his return, but we should get one soon. Fantasy owners should be bracing for Mack to miss multiple games. With RB Jordan Wilkins dealing with an ankle injury, Jonathan Williams and Nyheim Hines are the Colts' healthy RBs for Thursday night's game against the Texans.

Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Mack is expected to miss a "few weeks" beyond Thursday night's game.

Colts RB Marlon Mack suffered a fractured hand in Sunday’s win over Jacksonville. Jordan Wilkins sat out today with an ankle injury, so the Colts might need to roll out a Jonathan Williams-Nyheim Hines tandem Thursday against Houston. Williams was particularly impressive against the Jags on Sunday, rushing 13 times for 116 yards.

Colts RB Marlon Mack was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a hand injury and won't return. RB Jordan Wilkins (ankle) is inactive today, leaving Indy with RBs Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Williams.

Colts RB Jordan Wilkins was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Dolphins with a rib injury. He's averaged 3 carries per game this season, so his absence will mean just a bit more work for RB Marlon Mack.

Colts RB Marlon Mack (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday. It's worth noting that he played back in Week 3 despite only getting in a limited practice on Friday with his calf injury. And HC Frank Reich said that Mack wasn't medically ruled out of last week's game. Mack still has a shot to play against the Chiefs on Sunday night, but check back tomorrow for another update.

Colts HC Frank Reich said Monday that RB Marlon Mack wasn't knocked out of Sunday's loss to the Raiders by his ankle injury. It sounds like the Colts just opted for more Nyheim Hines in catch-up mode. That obviously adds game-script risk to Mack going forward. But it at least sounds like he'll be available for Sunday night's game in Kansas City (where game script could be a problem).

Colts RB Marlon Mack suffered an ankle injury in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game against the Raiders. He was deemed questionable to return but never did. We'll look for an update on his status.

Colts RB Marlon Mack was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday with a calf injury. The team only had a walkthrough, so it's an estimate of Mack's participation. This obviously bears monitoring over the next couple of days, though. Mack's absence would leave Jordan Wilkins as the Colts' lead ball-carrier, with Nyheim Hines potentially playing an expanded role.

Colts RB Marlon Mack (hamstring) isn’t listed on the final injury report after a full week of practice. We’re expecting him to return as Indy’s lead ball-carrier, but RB Nyheim Hines should continue to dominate passing-down work. Mack would be a desperation Week 6 fantasy play.

Colts RB Jordan Wilkins injured his ankle in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Redskins and is questionable to return. He had been working in a 3-way committee with Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines. We'll update Wilkins' status when we learn more.

UPDATE: Wilkins returned in the 2nd half.

The Colts have signed RB Branden Oliver. It was a rough preseason opener for Indy's backfield, which saw Marlon Mack exit with a hamstring injury and Nyheim Hines struggle. Oliver is still a long shot for 2018 fantasy value but is at least worth keeping an eye on. He caught 36 balls as a rookie back in 2014 before injuries got in the way the past 3 years.

Colts RB Marlon Mack suffered a hamstring injury in the 1st half of Thursday night's preseason opener. He carried 4 times for 9 yards and caught 2 balls for 23 yards before exiting. We'll look for an update on the severity of the injury, but bum hammies have a tendency to linger. Mack's absence would open up a bigger opportunity for rookie RB Jordan Wilkins.

Colts RB Marlon Mack underwent offseason surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, GM Chris Ballard revealed on SiriusXM radio. Mack reportedly played his "entire" rookie season with the injury. Ballard expects Mack to be a full participant in training camp, although it's unclear what he'll be able to do before then. Any missed time is bad news for a 2nd-year player looking to capture a bigger role in 2018. The Colts cut ties with Frank Gore this offseason but added Nyheim Hines (4th round) and Jordan Wilkins (5th) in the draft. This backfield is trending toward a committee, but exactly how the team is planning to divvy touches will be worth monitoring closely this summer.

The Colts placed RB Christine Michael on IR. He lasted just 2 weeks on the active roster. No word on Michael's injury, but at least we won't need to waste any more words on him this year. Robert Turbin and rookie Marlon Mack will battle for backup duties behind Frank Gore.
