Marlon Mack Injury Updates | Shark Bites

Cardinals RB Marlon Mack has torn his left Achilles' tendon and will miss the season. It's his second time dealing with such an injury. Mack tore the right Achilles' in Week 1 of 2020. The latest injury seems likely to end the 27-year-old's NFL career. He has logged just 44 total carries since the 2020 tear. Don't be surprised if the Cardinals look to bring in another veteran RB.

Broncos RB Marlon Mack will miss Sunday's finale vs. the Chargers with the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 17, according to insider Mike Klis. That'll leave Denver's backfield to Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds. Murray tallied 12 carries and 6 targets to Edmonds' 7 carries and 3 targets in last week's loss to the Chiefs.

Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett admitted Monday that "it doesn't look good" for RB Mike Boone to play again this season after going down with an ankle injury in the loss to the Chiefs. That'll leave Denver's backfield to Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack the rest of the way. Murray tallied 8 carries and 5 targets to Mack's 3 carries and 3 targets vs. Kansas City.

The Broncos are signing RB Marlon Mack off the 49ers' practice squad. Per 9News' Mike Klis, the team hopes to get Mack to Denver in time for this afternoon's flight to London. The move suggests that RB Mike Boone will miss at least Sunday's game vs. Jacksonville with his ankle injury. Don't expect Mack to see much action, though, behind RBs Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray.

The 49ers have promoted RB Marlon Mack from the practice squad. San Francisco has already lost RBs Elijah Mitchell and Ty Davis-Price to multi-week injuries. Jeff Wilson will open Week 3's game vs. the Broncos as the lead back, with Mack and rookie Jordan Mason behind him. Mack hasn't looked like the same player since his 2020 Achilles tear, so we're not optimistic about his chances of making an impact with the 'Niners. He's only worth stashing in deep fantasy leagues.

49ers RB Ty Davis-Price suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's win over the Seahawks, HC Kyle Shanahan said. That injury typically costs guys 4-6 weeks. Davis-Price handled 14 carries behind RB Jeff Wilson's 18 in Week 2. San Francisco is now down to RBs Jordan Mason and Marlon Mack behind Wilson. Mason has been active the first 2 weeks but has yet to play an offensive snap. Mack couldn't make Houston's final roster. Wilson has a good chance to control backfield work until RB Elijah Mitchell returns from his knee injury.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor left in the 2nd quarter of Thursday night's game against the Jets with a knee injury. Indianapolis reached halftime with a 28-10 lead, so we wouldn't be surprised if the team shuts Taylor down for the night -- even if the injury isn't serious. We'll keep an eye on the situation either way.

Update: Taylor took the field to open the 2nd half.

Colts HC Frank Reich said Tuesday that G Quenton Nelson has the same foot injury as QB Carson Wentz, according to multiple reports. He's having surgery immediately and faces the same return window (5-12 weeks) as Wentz. That's bad news for Jonathan Taylor and everyone else who lines up in the Indy backfield. We'll see exactly how long Nelson (and Wentz) remains out.

Colts RB Marlon Mack doesn't have any limitations in training camp. But he admits that he's still "trying to get the wheels right" after last September's torn Achilles. "I’d say my body and just getting my legs right,’" Mack said. “Still each day feel this and that, but just going out there and getting used to guys flowing around, getting used to practice with guys because I was with bags in the summer. Now I’m going with guys who are moving 100% and not being stationary. But it’s getting better each day, I would say that for sure. I’m getting more comfortable. I feel great." Mack is unlikely to be a fantasy factor this year without an injury to RB Jonathan Taylor. But we're curious to see just how much work he'll siphon from Taylor.
