Taylor Heinicke Injury Updates | Shark Bites

Washington HC Ron Rivera said Tuesday that he's considering rotating QBs Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke in Saturday night's Wild Card game vs. the Bucs. Smith is battling through a calf injury and was clearly inhibited in Sunday night's win over the Eagles. This is obviously a situation to avoid in fantasy lineups. And any snaps for Heinicke would be a downgrade for Washington's pass-catchers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Washington QB Alex Smith appears on track to return from his calf injury and start Sunday night's finale against the Eagles. If he can't go, Taylor Heinicke would step in.

The Panthers have placed QB Taylor Heinicke on IR with the left elbow injury he suffered in last week's loss to the Falcons. With QB Cam Newton (shoulder) on the shelf, QB Kyle Allen will start Sunday's finale against the Saints. The undrafted rookie went 4-for-4 in relief of Heinicke last week but isn't a Week 17 fantasy option.
