Shark Bites

The Saints have activated LB Kwon Alexander and DE Marcus Davenport. Both players are active for tonight's game against the Seahawks. We'd still go ahead and use LB Pete Werner ahead of Alexander in IDP lineups if you were planning to.

Recent Shark Bites

Saints S Marcus Maye (rib) and CB Paulson Adebo (knee) are active for today's game against the Bengals.

The Saints on Friday ruled CB Paulson Adebo (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Falcons. S Tyron Mathieu (illness) is questionable after missing Friday's workout. We'll check his status Sunday morning.

The Saints on Tuesday designated DE Marcus Davenport (pectoral) and LB Kwon Alexander (elbow) to return from IR. That doesn't yet restore them to the active roster. The team will have this week and the next 2 to decide on that for each player. But the designation suggests the Saints believe each player is close to being ready. Davenport should work his way quickly back into the starting lineup upon his return. Alexnader, on the other hand, might have to watch rookie LB Pete Werner take his job. We'll see how that situation develops over the next few weeks.

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore (hand), CB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (knee) and DE Tanoh Kpassagnon (calf) are inactive for today's game against the Panthers. That leaves New Orleans without 2 of its top 3 corners. They will get former Texans CB Bradley Roby into the lineup for the 1st time after he spent Week 1 finishing up a suspension that carried over from last season. Kpassagnon is a rotational player, but his loos could be amplified by the defense already missing starting DE Marcus Davenport (IR). Overall, the Saints have already lost starters at every level of the defense vs. last week's lineup. That can only be good news for the Panthers offense.

The Saints have placed DE Marcus Davenport (shoulder) and LB Kwon Alexander (elbow) on IR. That means both starters will miss at least the next 3 games. We'll see beyond that. Zack Baun and Kaden Elliss are the next 2 LBs up behind leader Demario Davis. Each played 40% of the Week 1 snaps, with Alexander at 60%. It's tough to bet on either in IDP lineups for Week 2. At DE, Carl Granderson and Tanoh Kpassagnon will see more time with Davenport out.
