Bills CB Tre'Davious White left in the 1st half of Thursday night's game against the Saints after injuring his left knee. The team has deemed him doubtful to return. The worry is that the non-contact injury could be more serious than that. We'll see about the official diagnosis.
The Bills believe CB Tre'Davious White tore his right Achilles' tendon in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. That would obviously end White's season. It could also challenge his longer-term future. White tore his left ACL in November 2021, missing the rest of that season and the first 10 of the following year. He'll turn 29 in January, with two years left on his contract. But the final two seasons hold shrinking dead-money numbers if the Bills release him. White entered Sunday as Buffalo's highest-graded CB in coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. He ranked 22nd in that category among all 160 corners so far this season. He'll obviously be a big loss for Buffalo's defense, though we wouldn't go targeting the matchup just yet. The Bills ranked second in pass-defense DVOA last year despite playing most of the year without White and losing both starting safeties for multiple games.
Bills HC Sean McDermott said Monday that the team plans to activate CB Tre'Davious White from the PUP list ahead of Wednesday's deadline. "He'll remain day-to-day, and not really going to get into speculating on whether he's going to play this week or not," McDermott said, per ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg. "We're just going to continue to take it day by day like we've done to this point." White has been getting some work in with the team since Week 6. We'll see this week how close he is to game action.
Bills HC Sean McDermott said ahead of Wednesday's practice that CB Tre'Davious White would be returning to the field this week but that he won't play in Sunday's game against the Chiefs. White has been on the PUP while continuing to work back from last season's ACL tear. We'll see when he's ready for game action.
The Bills have placed CB Tre'Davious White on the regular-season PUP list, meaning he'll miss at least the first 4 games. White is still working back from a Nov. 25 ACL tear. Dane Jackson will start at 1 corner, with rookies Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford competing for the other outside spot. Taron Johnson returns as the lead slot man. Missing White certainly doesn't help the Buffalo defense. It does help the individual matchup for opponent #1 WRs.
