Expect Bigger Pass-Catching Role For Noah Fant

Former Seahawks QB Brock Huard expects TE Noah Fant to play a bigger pass-catching role this season than he has the past two years in Seattle. The Seahawks re-signed Fant to a two-year, $21 million contract this offseason and let TEs Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson walk in free agency.

        What They're Saying

“I can see why (new offensive coordinator) Ryan Grubb was like, ‘Yep, I want that matchup guy," Huard said. "Just give me unique, different skill sets that I can move all over this chess board and create different matchups."

"I’m not gonna put him in as many situations where he’s gotta block. I’m gonna use that other guy, Pharaoh (Brown), that guy can block, and we believe he’s one of the best run-blocking tight ends, so we’re gonna put that guy in many of those burden situations in the run game, and we’re gonna let (Fant), who can really run and stretch the field and the numbers tell us so and our eyes tell us so, we’re gonna use his strengths to really push the ball down the field and maximize in that position.”

        2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Fant was stuck in a TE committee with Dissly and Parkinson under Seattle's previous coaching staff. He ranked just 23rd among TEs in total pass routes in 2022 and 26th last year. It sounds like he's a good bet to finish significantly higher this season.

When Fant has been in route the past two seasons, he's been efficient. He ranked 17th among 43 qualifying TEs in yards per route in 2022 and 22nd out of 45 last year. And among 52 TEs with 50+ targets over the last two seasons, Fant ranked:

        • 6th in catch rate
        • 17th in yards per catch
        • 5th in yards per target

The former first-round pick will turn just 27 in November and is a prime bounce-back candidate under Seattle's new coaching staff. Remember that Fant finished 14th, 11th, and 12th among TEs in PPR points across his first three NFL seasons in Denver.

At a TE23 best ball ADP, Fant could prove to be one of the biggest values at the position this year.
