Chargers QB Justin Herbert (foot) has shed his walking boot and appears to be on to the next step of his recovery. He had an injury in his right foot to the plantar fascia. The expectation has been that Herbert will play in Week 1 and no longer being in a walking boot backs up that timeline.
Daniel Popper of The Athletic: "Justin Herbert is out of the walking boot today while working in the weight room with Ben Herbert during practice."
Herbert suffered an injury to the plantar fascia in his right foot (this is different from having plantar fasciitis).
The expectation was always that he would be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, and shedding the walking boot at this time falls in line with his recovery timeline.
With new HC Jim Harbaugh and OC Greg Roman, the Chargers are expected to move toward more of a run style of offense. This has caused Herbert's ADP to shift downwards this offseason, especially when comparing his physical talents to his fantasy draft stock.
The injury further plummeted Herbert, often falling behind rookies like Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.
The positive injury news is unlikely to change Herbert's ADP, but it should make fantasy managers more comfortable with Herbert being startable Week 1 against the Raiders at home.
