De'Von Achane Busy And Productive In Week 2

        De'Von Achane Headshot

Dolphins RB De'Von Achane entered Thursday night's game vs. the Bills as questionable with an ankle injury. You wouldn't have known it watching the game. Achane was as explosive as ever -- and handled a big workload. He carried 22 times for 96 yards (4.4 YPC) and caught all seven of his targets for 69 yards and a score. The TD came from five yards out in the first quarter on a well-designed play. Achane ran a swing pattern to QB Tua Tagovailoa's right and had FB Alec Ingold swing out in front of him to block. Achane surprisingly remained in the game deep into the fourth quarter -- after Tagovailoa had exited with his concussion and WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle had been pulled. It was a curious decision from HC Mike McDaniel, but Achane seemingly came out of the game without suffering a setback.

        2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Achane's 2024 season is off to a big start. Through two games, he's racked up 120 rushing yards, 145 receiving yards, and two total TDs. The passing-game usage has been particularly exciting. Achane has totaled 14 targets for an 18.4% share.

The busy Week 2 came without RB Raheem Mostert, who's dealing with a chest injury that isn't expected to be long term. So don't expect this much volume for Achane going forward.

The bigger concern is Miami's injuries, most notably QB Tua Tagovailoa's latest concussion. If he's forced to miss time -- and he likely will -- QB Skylar Thompson will be a huge downgrade for the offense. Thompson at least targeted Achane on four of his 14 passes, although the majority of those came without WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on the field.

The Dolphins also lost LT Terron Armstead and G Robert Jones in the Bills game. We'll see how much time they're going to miss.

Achane's talent and usage should keep him in the RB1 mix going forward, but we do expect his production to take a hit at least until Tagovailoa returns.
