Bills WR Keon Coleman did not catch a pass in Thursday night's win over the Dolphins. His only target came in the fourth quarter on a deep shot that didn't have much of a chance to be completed.
Don't panic, Coleman owners. This was a weird game. The Bills only ran 45 offensive plays -- and a lot of those came with the game well in hand. QB Josh Allen threw just 19 passes.
The good news is that Coleman was a near full-time player for the second straight week. He led the WRs with a 91% snap rate and 90% route rate. Productive games are coming with that level of playing time.
The potential issue for Coleman looking forward is that this Bills team continues to skew toward the run under OC Joe Brady. We saw it when Brady took over last season, and the Bills have opened this year with -7% and -2% pass rates over expected.
Upcoming games against Jacksonville, Baltimore, and Houston should force the Bills to throw a lot more than they did in Week 2. Coleman will remain in the WR4 mix for those contests. We'll continue to track his playing time and target share.
