Commanders WR Terry McLaurin racked up 102 yards and a TD on 5 receptions in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. Most of that came on a single play late in the fourth quarter, though. McLaurin caught a pass with 33 seconds left and took it to the end zone from 86 yards out. That means his other 4 catches totaled just 16 yards.
Had McLaurin not made that final reception, he would have fallen short of 20 receiving yards for the third time in the past four games.
He and Jayden Daniels should certainly get credit for that big play, which set up a game-tying extra point that K Austin Seibert missed.
But the Washington offense stunk for nearly the entire game against a weak Dallas defense. That's worrisome. And it needs to factor into our lineup decisions going forward.
It's also worth noting that McLaurin trailed Noah Brown and Zach Ertz in targets, drawing just 15.8% of Daniels' attempts for the game.
After averaging 7.1 targets per game across the season's first eight contests, McLaurin has garnered just 4.25 per game over the past four.
Next week holds a matchup with Tennessee, which has been favorable to QB scoring but negative for WRs.
