The Panthers guaranteed that WR Tetairoa McMillan would be a focal point throughout 2025 by drafting him eighth overall in April. But the team's sixth-round WR Jimmy Horn Jr. continues to consistently gather buzz. That began in offseason workouts and has continued through the early days of training camp.
What They're Saying
HC Dave Canales: "I just love the way that he plays football. It's full speed all the time. Some guys we have to really teach them how to get into a walk-through mode. He's one of those guys. Everything he does is fast."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Here's the part where we pull back a bit.
Horn's fast -- 4.46-second 40 time at the Combine -- but he's also just 5'8, 174 pounds. He spent the past two years at Colorado after transferring from South Florida, amassing 4.1 receptions per game but just 10.6 yards per catch.
Horn went from second on the team in receptions and first in TD catches in 2023 to fourth in receptions and receiving yards last year, plus just 1 TD.
He's bandied as a potential return man for the Panthers but totaled just one return TD across four college seasons and averaged a forgettable 21.7 yards across 33 career kick returns.
There's room for Horn to carve out a role in a WR corps whose only proven entity is AARP candidate Adam Thielen. But don't bet on 2025 fantasy impact.
Dynasty Impact
The longer term obviously presents more opportunity for Horn, but he still looks like a long shot to deliver fantasy impact even there.
Spring and early summer are the times for the little fast guys to generate buzz. No one's hitting them, and coaches want to see how they can fit in. We'll see whether Horn can develop.
He's OK to stash in a taxi-squad spot. Just don't get over-excited.
