Ohio State WR Carnell Tate clocked an official 4.53-second 40-yard dash at the Combine. That lands him in the 35th percentile among all WRs to run at the Combine since 1999. At 192 pounds, Tate earned a 47th-percentile Speed Score.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
It's worth noting that some scouts hand-timed Tate in the 4.45-second range, according to The Athletic. But his official time stands at 4.53, which is a tad underwhelming.
Tate doesn't win with raw speed, though. He's more of a bursty athlete with savvy routes and strong ball skills. So the 40 time means less for his NFL projection.
It's also worth remembering that athleticism is much less correlated to future production at WR than it is at RB or TE.
We're ultimately not adjusting our 2026 or dynasty projection for Tate. We'll see if the 40 time ends up impacting his NFL Draft stock.
