The Miami Dolphins selected Texas Tech WR Caleb Douglas in Round 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Douglas boasts an enticing combination of size and athleticism. He’s 6’4, 206 pounds with a 4.39-second 40 time, registering a 9.50 Relative Athletic Score. Those gifts never resulted in big college production, though. Douglas totaled just 21 catches across his freshman and sophomore seasons at Florida before transferring to Texas Tech. He finished second on the team in catches (60), receiving yards (877), and TDs (6) in 2024 but averaged a middling 2.00 yards per route. Douglas’ production and efficiency declined this past year. He posted a 54-846-7 line on 1.77 yards per route – 35th among the 49 WRs invited to the Combine. Douglas is a legit vertical threat and flashes plus ball skills. But his hands are inconsistent and can get pushed around by physical CBs. There’s enough here to keep Douglas on the fantasy radar, but he’s a long shot to emerge as more than a spike-week, best-ball target.
What They're Saying
Draft Sharks Rookie Guide: “Douglas combines excellent size, huge 10 1/8-inch hands and 4.39 speed. He didn’t maximize those physical gifts in college, though. Douglas ended his senior season with an 11.5% drop rate (8.2% for his career). He also underwhelmed in contested situations, posting a 35.3% catch rate in 2025 and 37.0% for his career.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Douglas was a surprising Day 2 selection for a Dolphins team that desperately needed WR help for new QB Malik Willis. A downfield burner, Douglas flashed in 2025 as a downfield threat.
He sat at #216 on the consensus Big Board but was drafted at 75th overall.
The Dolphins WR room remains uninspiring with Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, and Tutu Atwell
He profiles similarly to WR Tutu Atwell who the Dolphins added in free agency. If he can build some strength, there may be some potential for Douglas to contribute immediately.
He could be a late round best ball shot, but likely stays off the redradft radar. The Dolphins offense itself won’t be great and Douglas likely won’t wow as a rookie.
Dynasty Impact
The Dolphins will likely address the WR position further in the future. Douglas could stick as a deep threat longer term, but he isn’t worth drafting early in rookie drafts.
The situation for immediate impact makes him an interesting third round rookie selection, but don’t reach just due to the poor WR room around him.
