Broncos QB Bo Nix needed two surgeries on the right ankle he fractured in January's playoff win over the Bills. The first repaired the ankle and the second, which came in April, was to remove bone spurs, Nix said this week. He's been a limited participant in minicamp and is on track to be a full-go for training camp. Nix isn't worried about the ankle heading into the 2026 season.
What They're Saying
Nix on his rehab: "It was hard because I wanted to be full speed so fast, but that's just unfortunately not how postsurgery goes. [I've] been there, had an ankle fracture in college, so knew sort of what the rehab was. Just wanted to go ahead and get [the spurs] out of the way for good. ... The doctors told me that the ankle looks good as new. We're right back to normal.''
HC Sean Payton on Nix: "He's doing well, he's doing really well. He'll clearly be ready in time for training camp. ... It's good to have him out here in uniform."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Nix fractured that same right ankle at Auburn in 2021. He had surgery in November, was ready for the start of the 2022 season, and went on to set career highs in passing yards and TDs. Even better, he ran for a career-high 519 yards and 14 TDs that season.
Mobility is a big part of Nix's game. He ranked fifth among QBs in rush attempts, 11th in rush yards, and fifth in rush TDs last year. So the health of that right ankle is paramount. We're not projecting it to limit his production right now, but we'll keep a close eye on it through training camp and preseason.
