The Athletic's Nate Atkins tabbed TE Terrance Ferguson the Rams' 2026 breakout player. Ferguson caught just 11 of 25 targets as a rookie last year, but his 21.0 yards per catch led all TEs and ranked third among all 242 players who saw 20+ targets.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Ferguson enters year two off a rare rookie profile: 21.0 yards per catch, an 18.3-yard average target depth, 46% of his routes from the slot, and another 24% out wide. In other words, he played much more like a WR than a TE last year. He saw similar deployment in college, where 60% of his routes came from the slot or out wide.
That WR-like usage helps Ferguson's breakout chances. The Rams' TE room remains crowded, but there's very little at WR behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, giving Ferguson a real shot to finish third on the team in targets. An injury to either of those WRs could supercharge his volume.
We're not ready to target Ferguson in standard-sized redraft leagues. But he's an upside TE3 in best ball and worth keeping on your waiver-wire watchlist.
Rankings Movement
We just bumped Ferguson's projected target share from 9% to a still-modest 10%. That pushed him up to 28th in the TE rankings.
He's capable of pushing past a 10% target share. We'll continue to track Los Angeles' plans for him this summer.
