Less than a year removed from both a fractured fibula and torn achilles, Daniel Jones is back to impressing at Colts training camp. Stephen Holder, a Colts reporter for ESPN, says it was “Daniel Jones’ best day of camp so far. Flawless.” He later said, “In fact, I would argue it was better than any practice he had in camp last year, pre-injury.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: More Than a Camp Blurb
Jones was in the middle of a career resurgence in his first Colts season before injury cut it short.
He was producing career highs in passing efficiency and production, two areas he'd struggled in mightily, with 8.0 adjusted yards per attempt and 8.0 yards per attempt for the first time in his career. It was just the second time Jones had posted at least 20.0 fantasy points per game.
But between the recency of the Achilles injury and the lack of consistency across Jones’ career, the expectations are far lower than the level he was playing at just last season. So, reports that he’s impressing less than nine months since the major injury, are more meaningful than the typical training camp recap.
The Colts also paid to keep Jones' core weapons in place, extending Jonathan Taylor and Alec Pierce. That leaves him well equipped to repeat last season's success if his recovery stays on track.
