Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins left Monday's practice with what HC Sean Payton called a soft-tissue injury. Payton didn't offer any more details and didn't sound overly concerned, but this certainly bears monitoring with Dobbins' lengthy injury history.
What They're Saying
Payton on Dobbins: "I think he's gonna be fine. We're just being smart with it."
This is pure speculation, but Payton appears to grab at his hamstring when he says "soft-tissue" in that video linked above.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Draft Risk Ticks Up
Injuries, of course, have been the story of Dobbins' career. He's never played a full season, notably missing all of 2021 with a multi-ligament knee injury and almost all of 2023 with a torn Achilles.
We're still more than a month from the start of the season, so Dobbins has time if this is truly a minor injury. But he's a bit riskier in fantasy drafts until we see him back on the field.
We'll keep you updated.
Other Winners & Losers: Handcuff Situation A Bit Murky
R.J. Harvey and Jonah Coleman will handle backfield duties for Denver this season if Dobbins misses time.
Harvey is next up on the depth chart at this point, but we wouldn't be surprised if Coleman got the bigger boost from a Dobbins absence. The rookie is a more conventional early-down back at 5'8, 220 pounds. And he offers some pass-catching ability.
A backfield split sans Dobbins could leave both Coleman and Harvey as RB3 types in fantasy lineups.
