Rhamondre Stevenson Headshot

Rhamondre Stevenson appears to have the edge over TreVeyon Henderson in the battle atop the depth chart this training camp. Patriots senior reporter Evan Lazar writes that “Stevenson is trending toward being the lead back to start the season. Stevenson has more consistently found holes between the tackles and is getting the bulk of the reps with Maye.” Lazar adds that “Henderson will still have a major role as a change-of-pace back and ideally in the passing game if Henderson can improve in blitz pickup.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Lead Role Tilting Stevenson

They shared the backfield last season, with Stevenson edging Henderson 12.5 PPR points per game to 12.1. Their usage was nearly identical: Stevenson accounted for 32.0% of the carries and an 8.9% target share, while Henderson posted a 36% carry share and an 8.4% target share.

Stevenson was the far more efficient receiver out of the backfield, nearly doubling his counterpart’s yards per team pass attempt mark, 0.83 to 0.44.

Henderson was more efficient as a rusher than Stevenson, posting 1.84 yards per team rush attempt to Stevenson’s 1.48.

You’d think Henderson would be poised for the bigger leap this season, heading into Year 2 while Stevenson enters Year 5. But Stevenson is reportedly continuing to lead the race for the lead-back job as the 2026 campaign approaches.
