There's only one sure thing in the Giants backfield as of this writing: Cam Skattebo's set to lead the group. Behind him, though, we're still learning what the backup and supplementary plan will be. But murmurs about RB Tyrone Tracy being on the roster bubble might have been premature.
What They're Saying: Don't Be 'Foolish'
ESPN's Jordan Raanan, after the Friday night preseason finale: "Tyrone Tracy Jr. three carries for 29 yards including a 6-yard touchdown run. Rough start to preseason but any thought of moving on from him seems foolish. Tracy has proven he's a capable player in this league."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Tracy a Solid Late Option
Raanan's assessment doesn't necessarily mean that Tracy isn't on the roster bubble. At the same time, notions that he might get cut also don't necessarily reflect team thinking.
Fortunately, we'll get that answer over the next couple of days. Tracy could be worth drafting this weekend either way, though.
The third-year Giant has already been sitting around RB48 in redraft ADP, a modest price for the potential No. 2 RB next to Skattebo. New York's returning starter flashed his upside last year but also runs with a style that enhances the injury risk. And he's just one year into his NFL career, which means the incumbent has yet to fully prove himself in the pros.
If Najee Harris -- whom the Giants recently signed -- does emerge ahead of Tracy on the depth chart, then it would probably be better for Tracy to get cut. That would free him to sign elsewhere, and I'd bet on him getting scooped off the open market.
The rumors of Tracy potentially getting dumped have already pushed him down in my recent drafting. If that continues, Tracy becomes a "why not" bet in the late rounds.
Teammate Devin Singletary, meanwhile, looks barely worth any fantasy attention.
