Devin Neal Headshot

After the Saints initially placed Devin Neal on injured reserve during final roster cuts, the team is waiving its second year RB, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Fantasy Relevance Fades Fast

The Saints drafted Neal in the sixth round out of Kansas just a year ago, and he flashed some promise as a rookie with 5.5 PPR points per game on a 20.3% carry share and 5.0% target share.

Neal would likely still be on the roster if not for the long-term hamstring concern, which has become a legitimate issue.

He suffered a hamstring injury last December that ended his rookie season early. After re-aggravating the same hamstring this preseason, it was announced that his 2026 was already over.

If Neal clears waivers he will become a free agent. But with no chance of production this coming season, his fantasy relevance is likely gone before it ever showed itself.
