TE Zach Ertz rejoined his original NFL team in the wake of Dallas Goedert's Week 2 MCL sprain. The veteran has played just a limited role in the two games since, though. He ran a mere 11 routes among Jalen Hurts' 32 dropbacks in Sunday's loss to the Rams. Ertz did garner 4 targets, but even that ranked just fourth on the team -- despite the Eagles also missing WR DeVonta Smith. Overall, Ertz has run a route on just 38.1% of Hurts' dropbacks and drawn a target on 11.5% of the QB's pass attempts.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Not Here
Even a full-strength, younger Ertz was a short-range operator who needed target volume to present fantasy value.
The current version is on the verge of turning 36 (Nov. 10) and coming off a 2025 ACL tear. He has also caught just 50 of this year's 6 targets while averaging a career-low 7.3 yards per catch.
If you stashed Ertz in a TE-premium format after Philly signed him, it looks safe to wake up from that dream and drop him.
Johnny Mundt has led Philly TEs in playing time since Goedert went down. He went from trailing Ertz 13-11 in Week 3 routes to beating him 21-11 against the Rams.
Mundt has seen just 4 targets all season, though, including none in Week 4.
Goedert's role will be waiting for him when he returns. He's a decent stash right now if you have room and can acquire him cheaply.
