Lions WR Jameson Williams caught two of QB Jared Goff's three TD passes in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. That followed four scoreless weeks for the wideout to open the season, but it also came on his only 2 receptions for the game. Williams finished with a 2-47-2 receiving line on 4 targets, seeing 13.3% of Goff's total pass attempts for the game. That remains an issue for Williams, especially with the other receiving options healthy.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Managing Williams Means Inviting Volatility
Williams is fun when he hits, but target share remains a key issue that will keep him volatile -- even relative to a position that's volatile by nature in its fantasy scoring.
As of this writing, Williams sits just 58th among WRs in target share at 15.2%, trailing just behind Baltimore's Rashod Bateman and Philly rookie Makai Lemon, among others.
That's important context for a guy who has climbed to 24th at the position in total PPR points after two strong weeks.
Target share has been an issue for Williams' scoring profile throughout his career, especially when TE Sam LaPorta's healthy.
Williams finished last season 49th among WRs in target share and ranked 50th in 2024. Last season highlighted the LaPorta effect, as Williams garnered a 15.6% share with the TE around (59th among WRs through Week 10). That climbed to 18.3% (35th) after LaPorta went down.
Williams has historically outperformed his usage, and his combo of speed and positive offensive situation make him a good bet to continue to do so. Check out the comparisons of his expected PPR points per game to his actual scoring:
| Season | XFP/gm | Rank | FP/gm | Rank |
| 2023 | 6.3 | 83rd | 6.7 | 74th |
| 2024 | 11.7 | 44th | 14.1 | 27th |
| 2025 | 10.5 | 47th | 12.9 | 21st |
| 2026 | 10.7 | 40th | 11.5 | 28th |
But that player type will also remain volatile week to week.
Does that mean you need to sell him? Of course not. There's room for a risk/reward wideout in your weekly lineup, especially if you surround him with more stable scorers.
But Williams' details do make him a potential sell whenever he hits a span of particular over-production.
This probably won't be the week for such a move, with a Week 6 bye looming. But feel free to consider making offers at any point beyond that.
Detroit faces a weak Green Bay defense in Week 7 but then a strong Minnesota D the following week.
