Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett threw for a season-high 292 yards and 3 TDs in Sunday's loss to the Lions. He completed 29 of 47 passes (61.7%) and added his fifth INT of the year, while also taking a season-high 5 sacks. The INT actually came on a pointless hail mary at the end of the first half that came down at Detroit's 15-yard line. But that doesn't mean Brissett had a better outing than the numbers suggest.
Fall Behind, Then Cut it Loose
Arizona trailed 31-7 by the middle of the third quarter, before Brissett tossed his second scoring pass of the day. And he alienated fantasy managers by finding TE Teagan Quitoriano for both of those TDs.
The Cards at least added a Trey McBride TD with 2:11 left in the game to close the scoring.
Brissett finished the first half just 9-of-21 (42.9%) for 90 yards (4.3 per attempt) with 1 TD, the INT, and a 51.7 passer rating. And that came against a Detroit defense that ranks just 28th in pass DVOA and 30th overall.
Brissett threw another 26 passes after the break, though, his second game with 47+ attempts among the past three.
Arizona has attempted the league's fourth-most passes through five games but ranks just ...
- 19th in yards
- 11th in TDs
- 32nd in net yards per pass attempt (which accounts for sacks)
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Brissett Can Assist in Times of Need
If you're looking for an actually good QB you can count on, then this ain't your guy. Brissett got a bit lucky in what's been one of the league's best matchups for QB scoring this year.
But it was predictable luck in that we expected the Lions to win this game fairly easily and likely take a lead that would encourage more Arizona passing volume.
The Cardinals get a similar matchup at the Rams in Week 6, and another game with shootout potential at Dallas in Week 8.
Don't over-trust Brissett, but he can continue to be a useful piece for deeper leagues, QB streaming, and superflex (or 2-QB) formats.
Rookie QB Carson Beck has yet to even make the active game-day roster this season.
