Chig Okonkwo drew a team-high 7 targets in a week when the Commanders lost top WR Terry McLaurin to a non-contact knee injury. He caught all seven for a team-high 69 yards, good for 13.9 PPR points and his first TE1 finish of the season.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: TE1 Weeks Could Follow
Okonkwo has seen his target total increase each week since returning from his hamstring injury in Week 4. He went from 4 targets to six in Week 5, then set a season-high with 7 for a 20.0% target share against the 49ers.
He’s also now posted at least a 20% target share in each of the past two weeks, ranking fourth among TEs with a 22.4% target share over that span. That will be closer to the expectation than the surprise moving forward, with McLaurin appearing lost for the season.
His target increase has also coincided with a rising route share, which has eclipsed 65.0% in each of the past two weeks.
On the season, Okonkwo’s 14.8% target share only trails WR Stefon Diggs and McLaurin for the team lead, further indicating an elevation in usage arriving.
The Commanders are on a bye in Week 7 before a matchup with an Eagles defense that’s allowed the seventh most receiving yards.
